Donald Crisp (born George William Crisp, July 27, 1882 – May 25, 1974) was a British and American film actor, producer, director and screenwriter. His career lasted from the early silent film era (his first notable role was General Ulysses S. Grant in The Birth of a Nation) into the 1960s. Donald Crisp got an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1942 for How Green Was My Valley. He made about 70 movies as film director. He also made a career in business.
