Colt Mustang

Later in the film, Detective M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) carries a backup sidearm in addition to her SIG-Sauer P230. This firearm appears to be another small .380 caliber pistol, possibly a Colt Mustang or a Mustang Plus II. The secondary sidearm also appears to have a blued finish, so it is obviously not the Colt Combat Commander that she used earlier in the film or a Para-Ordnance P-12, due to the size it is in her hand. We can't be sure, but it's probably a Colt Mustang. Either way, Monahan sure likes her .380s.

Detective Reuben Goetz (Dermot Mulroney) uses a Beretta 92F as his sidearm, most notably at the ballistic shootout gun range. One of the desk jockey cops at the station also is seen with a holstered older model, likely a Beretta 92F, judging by its glossy black grips.

A pencil pusher at the station appears to have a Beretta 92FS in a leather holster. Note the round Beretta trident logo in the middle of the grips, as well as the distinctive Beretta magazine baseplate.

A higher quality screen grab that shows a better view of the Beretta, its grips are glossy black, so it is likely an older model 92F rather than the 92FS, which has satin black grips.

Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman

Daryll Lee Cullum (Harry Connick Jr.) steals a Smith & Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman off the policeman who comes to the bathrooms. Peter Foley (William McNamara) also has a Model 28 revolver in his police gun belt holster in a attempt to replicate Hellen’s experience, however he never draws it.

Daryll Lee Cullum (Harry Connick Jr.) holds the S&W Model 28 and his knife on the cop as he takes him hostage. Note the dull finish and shallow cylinder fluting, this appears to be a rubber stunt prop, likely done for safety reasons. Also, note Harry Connick Jr.'s good trigger discipline. This good handling is probably because Connick is a gun owner in real life.

Cullum goes ahead and both slices the cops neck and fires the latter’s revolver at him. This seems to be either a real gun firing blanks or a flash paper gun, either way, it is different than the rubber prop seen earlier.

Peter Foley (William McNamara), dressed as a police officer has an identical Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver in his holster, however it is never drawn, preferably to use Monahan’s SIG P230.

SIG-Sauer P220

Inspector Nicoletti (Will Patton) carries a SIG-Sauer P220 (Judging from the lack of a double stack ridge) as his sidearm. The SIG P220 is notably seen when Nicoletti removes it from his holster and puts it in his drawer, however he forgets to lock the drawer which results in a detained suspect, a Chinese boy stealing it and then takes Det. Reuben Goetz (Dermot Mulroney) hostage. Another police officer holds his own P220 at the Chinese boy. Several SFPD SWAT officers carry SIG P220 pistols as well with at least one drawn during the evacuation of Foley’s burning house.

Glock 19

A cop is seen sitting at a desk in the station is seen carrying a holstered black semi-automatic in what appears to be a black leather holster. We here at the IMFDB were stumped for years as to what exactly this gun was (because of poor quality screen grabs and an overall lack of clear shots of the weapon in the film). There were several culprits based on size and color, though few enough to narrow down a few likely suspects, such as a Smith & Wesson 6904 or a compact Glock 19 (the Glock 26 was not introduced until several years after this film was made). It is not clearly seen enough to identify from the side (even on higher quality prints of the film), though a front shot of the cop reveals what appears to be a Glock "cup"-style rear sight. The size of the pistol in the holster makes it likely that it is a Glock 19, mostlikely a second-generation model.

A higher quality screen grab that is also actually in focus this time. (It's almost as if the filmmakers wanted to make it as difficult as possible to identify, but we here at IMFDB like a challenge!) Look closely at the rear sight, which appears to be a dead giveaway that it is a Glock.
