The Evil Dead is a cult horror feature film series that focuses on the story of Ash (portrayed by Bruce Campbell), a man whose life is completely upended when evil spirits are unleashed by the recitation from an ancient manuscript known as the Book of the Dead. The original 1981 film gained cult status and would launch the careers of both director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell. Two sequels would follow in 1987 and 1993. A semi-reboot was released in 2013. In 2015, Bruce Campbell returned as Ash in the Starz television series sequel Ash vs Evil Dead.
