CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was the long-running CBS crime procedural series that followed teams of crime scene investigators who work for the "Las Vegas Police Department" (in reality, the department is known as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department). CSI became a big success for the CBS network and would spawn three spin-off series in the ensuing years: CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and CSI: Cyber. The main cast up until Season 8 included Dr. Gil Grissom (William Petersen), Captain Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle), Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), and Nick Stokes (George Eads). In the more recent seasons, several new CSI's joined the cast, including Dr. Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne), Julie Finlay (Elisabeth Shue), and D.B. Russell (Ted Danson, who later would join the cast of CSI: Cyber). CSI premiered in the US on CBS in 2000 with its last full season finishing in the spring of 2015. The series officially concluded with a two-hour "television event" that aired on September 27, 2015.
