The Bullet Vanishes is a 2012 Chinese-Hong Kong detective drama directed by Chi-Leung Law. 1930s China. Captain Guo Zhui and Inspector Song Donglu investigate a series of strange murders at a bullet factory when the bullets used in the murders seemingly disappear.

Submachine Guns

M1928A1 Thompson

Boss Ding and some of his mobsters use M1928A1 Thompson submachine guns without Cutts compensators and with smooth barrels

M1928A1 Thompson with 50-round drum magazine, smooth barrel, and early 'simplified' rear sight that would be adopted for the M1 Thompson - .45 ACP. The in-movie version does not have a Cutts compensator.

Sten Mk II

Boss Ding's mobsters use Sten Mk II submachine guns with lengthened barrels. The Sten was not available in China until at least a decade after the film took place.
