This is a temporary work page to dump all comparison pics of MODERN popular hunting/sporting bolt action rifles. In many movies and TV shows we see these sporting guns, but they are really hard to identify. I am just making this page myself so that I can post various types of guns to compare various details, like receiver shape, bolt shape, general configuration, etc.
The Bolts
How to identify major models of Bolt action hunting rifles. In this chart we have several common models listed. We will be adding other models, like the Savage, Weatherby, etc. but for right now we have well known and common hunting rifle models. Now finishes will change as will stocks. Stocks are hard to use for identification since many manufacturers have slight model changes with some pretty big changes in how the stock looks. The barrels pretty much all look the same. The major identifier for a bolt action rifle is the bolt and action itself. Actions on the same model rifle can change depending on what caliber round the rifle is chambered for. Note the angle of the bolt handle as well as the general shape of the rear of the bolt. These are distinctive on the major bolt action rifles.
