The Bodeo Model 1889 was employed by the Italian Army during World War I, the Interwar Italian colonial wars, and World War II.

The Bodeo Model 1889 is similar to the Russian Nagant M1895, but has some unique features. The most notable being the loading gate; the loading gate on the Nagant revolver swings out, while on the Bodeo it swings back.
