7 Days in Entebbe (internationally released as Entebbe) is a 2018 crime thriller/terrorist drama directed by José Padilha and starring Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl. Set over the course of seven days in June-July 1976, the film is the latest recreation of the now famous Operation Thunderbolt, when Israeli commandos of the Sayeret Matkal (commonly known as The Unit) launched a risky counter-terrorist hostage-rescue operation to free hostages from an Air France Airbus A300 which had been hijacked by four members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFPL), including two left-wing Germans (Pike and Brühl), and flown to Entebbe, Uganda in collaboration with the infamous dictator Idi Amin.
The following weapons were used in the film 7 Days in Entebbe:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Handguns
Beretta Model 70
Suppressed Beretta Model 70's are used by The Unit, most notably Yonatan Netanyahu (Angel Bonanni) and Zeev Hirsch (Ben Schnetzer). During the raid, several shots fired from the Beretta infamously failed to stop Ugandan Army sentries, forcing one of the commandos to open fire with an AK-47, giving away surprise.
Tokarev TT-33
The Tokarev TT-33 is used by Wilfried Böse (Daniel Brühl) and one of the Palestinians during the hijacking.
Walther P38
Brigitte Kuhlmann (Rosamund Pike) uses a Walther P38 during the hijacking.
Submachine Guns
IMI Uzi
One of The Unit's commandos fires an IMI Uzi at Ugandan soldiers in the airport control tower during the raid.
CZ Vz. 61 E Skorpion
One of the Palestinian hijackers carries an CZ Vz. 61 E Skorpion.
Rifles
AK-47
The AK-47 is far and away the most commonly used weapon in the film, being used by Palestinian hijackers (including Böse and Kuhlmann), Ugandan soldiers and The Unit commandos, mostly notably Yonatan Netanyahu (Angel Bonanni).
AKS-47
Zeev Hirsch (Ben Schnetzer) and several other The Unit commandos use the folding stock AKS-47.
AKM
One of the Palestinian hijackers carries an AKM.
Heckler & Koch G3A3
Most of the Ugandan soldiers at Entebbe Airport can be seen with the Heckler & Koch G3A3.
M16A2
An IDF MP can be seen carrying what appears to be an M16A2 during protests. This would be anachronistic, as the M16A2 didn't enter service almost a decade after the Entebbe raid.
Machine Guns
FN MAG 58
The Unit commandos use the FN MAG 58 during the Entebbe raid, both man-portable and mounted on land rovers.
PKM
The PKM is used by Ugandan soldiers in the Entebbe control tower. Two PKM's can also be seen at the PFLP training camp in Yemen.
Grenades
F-1 Hand Grenade
The hijackers use the F-1 Hand Grenade.
