1968 Tunnel Rats (2009)

1968 Tunnel Rats is the latest film directed by 'infamous director' Uwe Boll. The film was originally titled Tunnel Rats. The film was screened at film festivals in Canada and Germany and had a limited theatrical run in Los Angeles at the Downtown Independent Theatre on December 20th, 2008. The 'official' release date for the film in the U.S. was supposed to be March 13th, 2009, however that release date got pushed back, despite being released elsewhere in the world on DVD. Now the U.S. DVD will be available for wide release on Jun 30, 2009.

Like usual, there is a lot to criticize in the film, though the film itself has mixed reviews (some reviewers actually think Boll is getting better(!)) But there was not a lot of thought put into the costuming and gear for the film. The Soldiers wear modern BDUs in O.D., their shoulder patches are bright and not subdued (subdued insignia was common by 1968) and the helmet covers are Woodland BDU, not the Nam leaf pattern which is correct for Vietnam.

Hey Gunmaster45. Any idea what shotgun this is?

I think it is a Winchester 1200 with a standard magazine tube. The action is blued so it's hard to make the shape out exactly but it appears to match a 1200's type. - Gunmaster45

i think it is a stevens but i dont know the exact model. i think so cause i read a book that stevens were popular in the army because they were so rugged

It looks very much like a Remington 870.

I don't think the US Military ever used stevens shotguns. well I read it in a Gun book but it could be wrong but it looks just like the stevens in the book.-Oliveira 20:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Soldier carries a yet unidentified Shotgun. Yeow! Boll can sure screw up uniforms! The Webgear is 1980s vintage LCE, the helmet covers are Woodland BDU camo, and the shoulder patches are non-subdued.

The squad dismounts from their UH-1A "Huey" helicopter with M16s. (I think it's the early A model, which makes it too 'short' to carry the standard complement of soldiers. Typical Uwe Boll mistake, the Helo has a non-subdued U.S. AIRFORCE logo (but no letter stating USAF). What's a USAF helicopter doing dropping off Infantry?

Type 84

• Rather anachronistically, the NVA soldiers use Norinco Type 84S (5.56mm) AK rifles whereas they should be using Type 56 rifles chambered in 7.62x39mm
