L'Intervention (The Intervention, English title: 15 Minutes of War) is a 2019 French action movie directed by Fred Grivois. The movie is directly inspired by the real-life rescue of French hostages by members of the French Foreign Legion and, at the time, new, small, and relatively unknown French counterterrorist unit GIGN outside of the village of Loyada, Djibouti in 1976.
February, 1976. Militants belonging to the pan-Somali guerilla movement Front de Libération de la Côte des Somalis (FLCS) hijack a bus carrying 31 children of French servicemen deployed to the area. In response, France executes a joint mission between the French Foreign Legion and GIGN, who initiate a daring rescue which begins with a simultaneous sniper shot.
The following weapons were used in the film L'Intervention:
Pistols and Revolvers
Manurhin MR-73
French forces, including GIGN members, use the famous Manurhin MR-73.
Manurhin MR-73 Defense with 3" barrel and duty sights - .357 Magnum
Lorca (David Murgia) holsters his revolver after shooting a Somalian soldier.
When he runs out of ammo for the FR F1, he uses the revolver.
Gendarme Lorca stays alert after the Somalis retreat.
Captain Gerval (Alban Lenoir) uses a sport version with 5.25 barrel.
Manurhin MR-73 Defense with 5.25" barrel and adjustable sights - .357 Magnum
Captain Gerval (
Alban Lenoir) with his MR-73 during night reconnaissance.
Another view of the same scene.
Gerval aims the revolver at Jane (
Olga Kurylenko) when she surprises him near the bus.
MAC Mle 1950
The leader of the terrorists (Kevin Layne) uses a MAC Mle 1950 to threaten the teacher and kill a French Gendarme. Later, Jane (Olga Kurylenko) takes the pistol from the dead terrorist to defend the children. Some uniformed French Gendarmes and soldiers carry the pistol as well.
MAS Mle 1950 - 9x19mm Parabellum
Barkhad force the bus driver to drive to the Somalian border. In fact, if the barrel is pressed against something, it would normally be unable to fire.
Same scene, but the hammer is now cocked.
"Don't force me to shoot!"
Jane (
Olga Kurylenko) fires the pistol at approaching Somalian soldiers.
Luger P08
Gendarme Campère (Michael Abiteboul) uses a Luger P08 Artillery akimbo with his MR-73.
Luger LP08 "Artillery" model - 9x19mm
Campère firing the Luger akimbo with his MR-73.
The same scene from the front.
After the grenade explosion, Campère admits to seeing nothing, but continues shooting.
Colt M1911
A Somalian soldier lays an M1911 on a table when French forces attempt to negotiate with the terrorists.
Original Colt M1911 (dated 1913) - .45 ACP
Rifles
MAS FR F1
The GIGN snipers use the MAS FR F1 as their primary weapon to execute a very efficient coordinated shot. The scopes used seem to be civilian-grade models.

Lieutenant Cazeneuve (Sébastien Lalanne) and Campère checking the rifles after arriving in Djibouti.
Lorca and Larrain (Guillaume Labbé) covering Gerval during night reconnaissance.

Zéro Captain Gerval (
Alban Lenoir) gives the signal to engage the terrorists. "Zéro" is less stressful than "fire".
