The following weapons were used in Season 4 of the television series Stranger Things:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Revolvers
Colt Python
A nickel plated 6 inch Colt Python with rubber grips is purchased by Jason Carver (Mason Dye) at War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. He refers to it as a ‘pretty .357’. He is later seen using it in “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback”.
Nagant M1895
A Nagant M1895 revolver is carried by Yuri Ismaylov (Nikola Duricko) in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy”. It is later used by Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) in the same episode.
Smith & Wesson Model 19
The Smith & Wesson Model 19 is carried by Chief Calvin Powell (Rob Morgan), Officer Phil Callahan (John Paul Reynolds) and Officer Glenn Daniels (Jeff Sprauve) of the Hawkins Police Department throughout the season. It also seems to be carried by officers with the Lenora Hills Police Department in "Chapter Two: Vecna's Curse".
Pistols
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS is carried by Harmon (Ira Amyx) and Wallace (Kendrick Cross), FBI Agents loyal to Dr. Sam Owens (Paul Reiser), in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy”.
**In reality, FBI Agents in 1986 would have carried either the Smith & Wesson Model 13 or the Smith & Wesson Model 459.**
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is carried by various Military Police officers at Hawkins National Laboratory in flashbacks in the 1970’s. Military Police officers loyal to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) are seen with holstered 1911's whilst guarding the NINA Facility. A suppressed 1911 is also used by a US Army operative under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy”.
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM is carried by various Soviet Army soldiers and prison guards, including Dmitri Antonov (Tom Wlaschiha). Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) are also seen using them in “Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” and “Chapter Eight: Papa”. In "Chapter Six: The Dive", Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) mentions she has a Makarov pistol safe kept at home with a revolver (likely being the Smith & Wesson Model 10 acquired from Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) father from Season 1) likely from the mall incident in Season 3, even though she had the Tokarev TT-33.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1200
A Winchester Model 1200 with a ribbed field barrel is purchased by Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) for $120.99 with 20 shells in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. She later saws down the barrel for use in close quarter combat to widen pellet spread in "Chapter Nine: The Piggyback".
Double Barrelled Shotgun
A Double Barreled Shotgun is briefly seen being handled by a War Zone Army Navy Surplus clerk and by a customer in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Cobray Street Sweeper
A SWD Cobray Street Sweeper is one of many weapons seen on the gun rack at War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Ithaca 37
A Ithaca 37 is seen on the gun rack in War Zone Army Navy Surplus right behind clerk in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. A customer is also seen holding a Ithaca 37 along with a Ruger Mini 14 rifle inside War Zone.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
A Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with slimline handguard is carried by the leading Military Police officer (Jason Vail) loyal to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) at the NINA Facility in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Heckler & Koch MP5K (Mocked as MP5K-PDW)
Multiple Heckler & Koch MP5Ks with PDW stocks attached are used by Military Police officers loyal to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) at the NINA Facility in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. The MPs use MP5K-PDWs both with and/or without threaded tri lug barrels.
**Since the season takes place in 1986 this is considered anachronistic since the MP5K-PDW variant was not developed until 1991.**
Rifles/Carbines
AK-47
The AK-47 is carried by various Soviet Army soldiers and prison guards throughout the season. While the AK-74 had replaced it long ago in standard Russian service, it could be explained as being retained by rear-line prison guards for whom the latest and greatest is not needed.
AKM
The AKM is carried by various Soviet Army soldiers and prison guards throughout the season. Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) arm themselves with AKM rifles from Yuri Ismaylov's (Nikola Duricko) stockpile when going to the Soviet prison, where Hopper is seen firing it one handed in “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback”.
AKMSU
The AKMSU is seen carried by various Soviet Army soldiers and prison guards throughout the season.
AKS-74U
Aside from the AKMSUs, genuine and period correct AKS-74U carbines are also seen carried by various Soviet Army soldiers and prison guards throughout the season, notably in "Chapter Four: Dear Billy".
Colt M16
A M16 is carried slung over by a US Army soldier under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) in the beginning of "Chapter Five: The Nina Project" and also carried by another soldier before starting an assault in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. The prong flash hider can be seen.
Colt M16A1 or Colt SP1
A M16A1 (or possibly a Colt M16 (SP1)) is seen on the gun rack next to the Galil AR in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Colt M16A2
The Colt M16A2 is seen used by US Army soldiers under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) briefly in "Chapter Four: Dear Billy" and most notably virtually carried by all of the US Army soldiers during the assault in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. A few of the US Army soldiers also carry M16A2 rifles with M203 grenade launchers during an assault in the same episode as the latter. Since Season 4 takes place in 1986, the M16A2 in the hands of the US Army soldiers is technically correct as the rifle model had just been adopted that year but would also not be as ubiquitous as of yet until the late 1980s. The M16A2s are also seen incorrectly firing fully automatically when the variant model of the rifle in real life is 3 round burst and semi automatic only.
FN FAL 50.63
A paratrooper version of the FN FAL is briefly seen on the gun rack in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Galil AR
A Galil AR is seen on the gun rack next to the FAL paratrooper in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Heckler & Koch HK91A2
Several Heckler & Koch HK91 rifles are seen on display in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”, most notably one is displayed deployed on it's built in G3 rifle bipods next to Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer).
Heckler & Koch HK33A3
A Heckler & Koch HK33A3 is briefly seen being carried by a few US Army soldiers under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus), notably by a soldier after he is shot by FBI Agent Harmon (Ira Amyx) in “Chapter Four: Dear Billy”.
**Although the HK33 was only briefly issued to the US Navy SEALs, US Border Patrol and NOT the US Army, its appearance can possibly be justified as the soldiers under Sullivan are implied to be working as part of an unofficial black-ops mission.**
Springfield M1A
A scoped Springfield M1A rifle in a woodland camouflage fibreglass stock is used by a US Army sniper under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) in “Chapter Eight: Papa”. The rifle may likely be replicated to stand in as the M21 Designated Marksman Rifle Sniper Weapon System (which would of been the standard sniper rifle at the time of the show's setting in 1986 before the M24A1 Sniper Weapon System was adopted) but upon closer inspection reveals the rifle lacking a fire/safety selector that a M14 and M21 normally would have, as seen during the reload scene. A plain wood stock non scoped M1A is briefly seen hanging on display inside War Zone Surplus in the same episode.
M1 Garand
A M1 Garand rifle with a leather sling is seen on the gun rack in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
SKS Simonov
A SKS rifle is seen on the gun rack with the M1 Garand in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Ruger Mini-14
A customer is seen holding a Ruger Mini-14 along with a Ithaca 37 shotgun inside War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Norinco Type 56
In a continuity error, Murray Bauman's (Brett Gelman) AKM changes into a Norinco Type 56 with a slant muzzle break and then is carried by Jim Hopper (David Harbour) when he swaps the flame thrower for it in “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback”. The rifle is identified by the hooded front sight and buttstock unique to the Chinese AK.
Norinco Type 84
A Norinco Type 84 is seen on the gun rack in War Zone Army Navy Surplus in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Valmet M76F
A Valmet M76F is seen on the gun rack next to the Norinco Type 84 in War Zone Army Navy Surplus and briefly being carried by a customer outside the surplus store in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
Other
M203 Grenade Launcher
A few US Army soldiers under the command of Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) carry M203 grenade launchers mounted on Colt M16A2 rifles with heatshield barrel shroud handguards during an assault in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
ROKS-2 Flamethrower
A Soviet ROKS-2 Flamethrower is used by Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) in “Chapter Nine: Piggyback”.
A large variety of shotguns and semi-automatic rifles are seen in display at the War Zone Army Navy Surplus store in “Chapter Eight: Papa”.
