The Degtyarev self-loading rifle model 1938 is based on the design of the breech (carried out with two larvae (stops) symmetrically located in the side walls of the receiver) from the 1932 rifle sample made by V.A. Degtyarev.
The 1938 was developed at TsKB-2. It featured an attached bayonet knife, a 10-round removable magazine, and a UVP rifle optical sight.
