The Translator (Perevodchik) is a Russian 2014 (filmed 2013) war drama mini series. The plot is set in a Nazi occupied Soviet town of Taganrog. The local school teacher Starikov (Vitaliy Khaev) has to serve as a translator for the German Sicherheitsdienst (SD) to save himself and his family.
The following weapons were used in the film The Interpreter (Perevodchik):
Pistols
Luger P08 (Denix)
Initially the head of the SD in Taganrog Sturmbannführer Martin Leitner (Joachim Paul Assböck) carries a Luger P08. The markings reveal the gun as a Denix replica. Later Leitner is armed with a Walther P38.

Submachine Guns
MP40
MP40 submachine guns are seen in hands of several German soldiers and officers. Andrey Starikov (Vitaliy Khaev) is armed with an MP40 in the climactic scene. Two MP40s are seen on screen, one of the early model and another one of the late model, with different cocking handles and magazine wells.
An officer at the left carries an MP40 when the German troops enter Taganrog.

Sturmbannführer Leitner (
Joachim Paul Assböck) hands an MP40 to his secretary Hause (Anatoliy Falynskiy) (this character has mixed insignia of SS-Scharführer and SS-Unterscharführer). This MP40 is an early version.
When Starikov breaks into Leitner's office, his MP40 switches to an early version due to a continuity error.

Starikov's MP40 again swithces to a late version. Note that the charging handle is of the pattern that was adopted only in Spring 1942.
