They Fought for Their Country (Russian Title: Oni srazhalis za Rodinu/Они сражались за Родину) is a 1975 World War II drama directed by Sergei Bondarchuk. The film tells about the heavy defensive battles on the approaches to Stalingrad in July 1942, about heroism and sacrifice of ordinary soldiers.
