The Strogovs (Strogovy) is a Soviet 1976 eight-part mini series directed by Vladimir Vengerov and based on the same title novel by Georgi Markov. It depicts the life and fate of Strogovs family, inhabitants of a Siberian village, from late XIX century to Russian revolution and civil war.
The following weapons were used in the film The Strogovs (Strogovy):
Revolvers
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are widely used throughout the series. Taras Semyonovich Belyaev (Valeri Anisimov) holds a Nagant in Ep.2. Matvey Zakharovich Strogov (Boris Borisov) carries a holstered Nagant when he serves as a prison guard in Eps.3 and 4. Holstered Nagants are also carried by police uryadnik (an NCO rank in Russian Imperial police) Nikodim Sofronovich Khlyupochkin (Oleg Belov) in Ep.3 and Russian Army Poruchik (Lt.) (Yuri Dedovich) in Ep.5. During the events of Russian civil war in Eps. 7 and 8 Nagant revolvers are seen in hands of Matvey Strogov, Grandfather Fishka (German Novikov), Artyom Strogov (Aleksey Plavinskiy), Demyan Mineich Shtychkov (Viktor Pavlov), Commissar Krayukhin (Anatoliy Semenov), Timofey Zalyotny (Valery Kravchenko), White Army Staff Capt. (Boris Leskin), and some minor characters. Most Nagants are of anachronistic post-1930 version.
Webley Mk VI
In a battle scene in Ep.8 a White Army officer holds a Webley Mk VI revolver. This prop is probably the same that appeared in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, also filmed on Lenfilm several years later.
Reichsrevolver M1879
A Reichsrevolver M1879 is seen among the weapons, captured from a gang of brigands in Ep.8.
Pistols
Astra 900
An Astra 900 pistol, anachronistic for 1920 (production started in 1927-1928), is seen in several scenes in Eps. 7 and 8, set during Russian civil war, used by Red partisan Sanya (Aleksandr Susnin) and Red Army soldier Artyom Strogov (Aleksey Plavinskiy), Matvey Strogov's son. This pistol is probably the same prop, used in The Chief of Chukotka (Nachalnik Chukotki), also filmed by Lenfilm.
Mauser C96
Mauser C96 pistols are used by Artyom Strogov (Aleksey Plavinskiy) (instead of previously seen Astra 900), Evdokim Yutkin (Adolf Ilyin) (instead of previously seen Luger P08 "Artillery" model) and some Red partisans and brigands in Eps. 7 and 8.
Mauser C96 "Red 9"
In one scene in Ep.8 a former merchant Markel Sosipatrovich Golovanov (Leonid Nevedomsky) gives a Mauser C96 "Red 9" pistol to Tikhon Chyorny (Mikhail Mitin), hegumen of Old Believers skete. Later Golovanov takes the pistol back. Strangely, the frame of this pistol has features, typical for early versions of C96, like "Cone Hammer" and "Large Ring Hammer".
Luger P08 "Artillery" model
Luger P08 "Artillery" model pistols (probably a single prop) are seen in several scenes in Ep.8, used by Evdokim Yutkin (Adolf Ilyin), Demyan Shtychkov (Viktor Pavlov) and a White Army officer.
Star Ruby
A Star Ruby-style pistol is seen among the weapons of Demyan Shtychkov (Viktor Pavlov) in Ep.7.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891
Original Mosin Nagant M1891 rifles are widely used throughout the series, used by Cossacks in Ep.6, and by Red partisans and White soldiers in Eps.7 and 8.
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles, standing for original M91s, are also seen in several scenes.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Anachronistic Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbines are seen in several scenes.
Mosin Nagant "Obrez"
Mosin Nagant "obrez" sawed-off rifles are used by Demyan Shtychkov (Viktor Pavlov) and his henchman Yepifanov (S. Kiselyov) in Eps.7 and 8.
Custom Mosin Nagant Rifle
In one scene in Ep.8 a White soldier fires a Mosin Nagant rifle that is shorter than full-lenght models but doesn't match M1907 or M1938 Carbines. This is probably an M91/30 rifle that has custom shortened barrel.
Shotguns
Mosin Nagant/Frolov Shotgun
"Frolovka" bolt action shotguns are widely used by villagers, notably by Grandfather Fishka (German Novikov). They stand for "Berdanka" bolt action shotguns that were widely used in Russia in late XIX - early XX century. Screen "Frolovka" shotguns lack typical magazines of M91 rifle (usual sign of 32 gaige version) but retain the grooves on stock that allows to differ them from "Berdanka".
Double Barreled Shotgun
Siberian hunters and gold prospectors use Double Barreled Shotguns in Eps. 1 and 2. Shotguns are also used by Red partisans and brigands in Eps. 7 and 8.
Single Barreled Shotgun
Taras Belyaev (Valeri Anisimov) and Evdokim Yutkin (Adolf Ilyin) use Single Barreled Shotguns on hunt in Ep. 2. They are most likely Izhmekh shotguns, like IZh-K or IZh-17.
Machine Guns
Maxim M1910
Both Red partisans and White troops use Maxim M1910 machine guns in Eps. 7 and 8.
Maxim M1910/30
Anachronistic Maxim M1910/30 machine guns are also used in Eps.7 and 8.
Lewis Machine Gun
A Lewis machine gun is seen in several scenes in Ep.7. It never fires on screen.
Other Weapons
Dummy Training Grenade
What appear to be dummy training stick grenades is seen in hands of Artyom Strogov (Aleksey Plavinskiy) in Ep.8 during the battle with White troops. They stand for RG-14 hand grenade.
Trivia
Pistol Holsters
In one scene in Ep.3 a gorodovoy (police officer) carries a holster for TT-33 pistol.
76.2mm M1902 Field Gun
The only artillery piece in the movie is a 76.2mm M1902 field gun of White troops, seen in Ep.7.
