Panfilov's 28 (28 panfilovtsev) is a 2016 Russian war drama directed by Andrey Shalopa and Kim Druzhinin. It depicts one of the most famous episodes of the Battle for Moscow, the story of Panfilov's Twenty-Eight Guardsmen, a small unit of Red Army soldiers of General Panfilov's division who stood against the overwhelming forces of Wehrmacht in November 16, 1941 at the village of Dubosekovo and mostly perished in action.
The following weapons were used in the film Panfilov's 28 (28 panfilovtsev):
Pistols
Tokarev TT-33
Most Soviet officers, including battalion commander Maj. Fyodor Reshetnikov (Anton Kuznetsov), company commader Capt. Pavel Gundilovich (Aleksey Longin), Sr. Lt. Pyotr Ignatyev (Dmitriy Sutyrin), and Politruk (political instructor) Vasily Klochkov (Aleksey Morozov), carry Tokarev TT-33 pistols in holsters. When repelling the last German attack, Sgt. Ivan Dobrobabin (Yakov Kucherevskiy) takes the TT from wounded Klochkov.
Submachine Guns
PPSh-41
Politruk Vasily Klochkov (Aleksey Morozov) and several soldiers, including Pvts. Grigory Konkin (Dmitriy Murashev), Ivan Natarov (Pavel Goncharov), Grigory Shemyakin (Oleg Fyodorov) and Nikolay Trofimov (Anton Filipenko), are armed with PPSh-41 SMGs.
PPD-40
Sgt. Ivan Dobrobabin (Yakov Kucherevskiy) and several soldiers carry PPD-40 SMGs.
MP40
Some German soldiers, notably a tank crew member, are armed with MP40 SMGs.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Most Soviet soldiers are armed with Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Some artillerymen are armed with Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbines.
Tokarev SVT-40
Some Soviet soldiers are armed with Tokarev SVT-40 semi-auto rifles.
Karabiner 98k
Nearly all German soldiers are armed with Karabiner 98k rifles.
Gewehr 33/40(t)
At least one of the German soldiers is armed with Gewehr 33/40(t) (Wehrmacht index for Czech Vz. 16/33 carbine), identified by the short barrel and the grooves on the stock.
Machine Guns
Maxim M1910
The pre-1930 Maxim M1910 is manned by Gavriil Mitin (Oleg Senchenko) and Daniil Kozhebergenov (Kim Druzhinin).
Degtyaryov DP-27
A single Degtyaryov DP-27 is seen in Soviet trenches.
MG34
German soldiers use the MG34 machine gun.
MG34 Panzerlauf
Replicas of MG34 Panzerlauf machine gun are used on the full scale model of Pz. IV German tank.
Other Weapons
Degtyaryov PTRD-41
Two PTRD-41 AT rifles are used by the Soviet unit. One is manned by Musabek Sengirbaev (Azamat Nigmanov) as gunner and Duyshenkul Shopokov (Askar Tleugobilov) (gunner's assistant), and the other one - by Alikbay Kosaev (Amadu Mamadakov) (gunner) and Grigory Konkin (Dmitriy Murashev) (gunner's assistant).
RGD-33
Soviet soldiers use RGD-33 hand grenades, often in bundles. Unlike most movies, where all RGD-33 grenades, tied together, retain the handles, here we see the correct bundle that contains one grenade with the handle and several grenade warheads.
RPG-40
RG-14/30
The RG-14/30 hand grenade is seen when Lt. Ugryumov (cameo of film director Andrey Shalopa) is lecturing about the German tanks and the anti-tank tactics.
Incendiary Bottle
Incendiary bottles are also used by Soviet soldiers. The screen props very carefully follow the real weapons (No1 and No3 bottles), including the usage of ignition matches.
45 mm 53-K AT Gun
Trivia
Artillery
Tanks
The Pz. III and Pz. IV German tanks that appear on screen are 1:16 models, except for a single full scale model of Pz. IV, specially built for the movie.
