About
MKEK (short for Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi, "Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation") is a Turkish defense company founded by the Turkish government, albeit privatized in 2021. Tracing its origins to a cannon foundry founded by the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century, it is one of the main equipment providers for the Turkish Armed Forces, with their products ranging from ammo, RPG-7 warheads and even guns. While most of the products were licensed, like the G3 and HK33 rifles supplied to the Turkish Army, it recently has been developing more original designs. In addition to defense equipment, MKEK also produces a number of products for civilian industries, such as metal alloys, electronics, and personal protective equipment such as gas masks and respirators.
