Vasil Bykov (Belarusian: Васіль Уладзіміравіч Быкаў, Russian: Василь Владимирович Быков) (June 19, 1924 – June 22, 2003) was a famous Soviet and Belarusian writer, author of novels and stories about World War II, notably about the lives and tragedies of the people in Nazi occupied Belarus. Nearly all of his works were adapted for screen, both in the USSR and in post-Soviet Russia and Belarus.
