Welcome to IMFDB

Before you do any editing please take the time to read the Rules, Standards and Principles. This is a very important document that explains how this website is setup as well as telling you what is and isn't allowed. If it is determined by an admin that you have not read these rules, your account will be suspended. Continued non-compliance may result in a permanent ban. After that you should also read the IMFDB Screencapping Guide and the IMFDB Style Guide to familiarize yourself with the image and formatting requirements for pages you create.

There are a number of pages that desperately need your help. You can find these Incomplete pages here.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here but make sure to sign your post by typing --~~~~.

Finally, IMFDB has a forum set up here that is only available to registered members. There is lots of good stuff to see there. If you would like to join the forum, please post HERE and an account will be created for you.

Now, HAPPY EDITING! bunni (talk) 15:10, 22 March 2016 (EDT)

Questions

I saw on Facebook that you had some questions for us. If it's a general question, you can post it here. You can also review our Rules and the rules regarding fictional firearms. --Funkychinaman (talk) 16:01, 22 March 2016 (EDT)

Follow-up

1) Do you play games much? If so, do you play scifi shooters as well as shooters with realistic guns? Or are you generally drawn to games with more authentic firearms?

I don't play as much as I used to, but I used to play a moderate amount. I've devoured the Halo franchise (except the most recent one) since it came out, as well as the Gears of War franchise, and I own every COD except the most recent and every MOH/Battlefield game. I admit, if everything else was equal, I'll give games with realistic guns more of a chance, but ultimately, it boils down to gameplay, storytelling, etc.

2) How much does the increasingly weird weaponry of Call of Duty games harm your enjoyment? Is it like a minor annoyance, or does it make it much harder to get into the game?

The last COD game I played was Advanced Warfare, and I was a bit annoyed by the crazy weapons in the sense that I no longer had any inkling whether or not the weapons that I was encountering were any good, or better than the ones that I had. For example, in MW2, if I had an Uzi, I'd trade it in for an AK if I could, because I prefer rifles, but in AW, I had no idea if an ASM1 was better than an IMR. I don't know if I would say it would harm my enjoyment, because the game isn't about shooting guns. If I wanted to enjoy shooting guns, I'd take my guns to the range and shoot them. As for getting into the game, like I said earlier, it boils down to gameplay, story, etc.
Users here always freak out about the guns in video games, but ultimately, I don't think it really matters. BO3, with it's crazy sci-fi guns, was the best selling game of 2015, and it was only out for less than two months of 2015, while Medal of Honor: Warfighter, with it's devotion to accuracy, flamed out and killed the franchise. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:55, 25 March 2016 (EDT)
