Krag-Jorgensen Sporter

Sheriff Heck Tate (Frank Overton) brings a "Sporterized" Krag-Jørgensen to the site of the rabid dog, Tim Johnson. He gives it to Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck), telling him to take the shot. Atticus does so, killing the dog and revealing his accuracy with firearms, a fact that he tried to hide from his children, Jean Louise "Scout" Finch (Mary Badham) and Jeremy Atticus "Jem" Finch (Phillip Alford). It appears from the configuration of the loading gate and barrel size that the Krag used in the movie is a full-length American Krag-Jørgensen Model 1898 Rifle in .30-40 caliber with a cut down stock.
