The Gun (original title L'arma; also released as The Sniper) is a 1978 Italian-American drama directed by Jerry Jameson and Pasquale Squitieri. Luigi Compagna (Stefano Satta Flores), frightened by numerous crimes in his district, purchases a revolver. The possession of a gun completely changes his nature and behaviour and leads him to a tragic end.

The following weapons were used in the film The Gun (L'arma):

Smith & Wesson Model 28

Luigi Compagna purchases a Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver. It can be identified as a Model 28 by the top-strap of the revolver which is smooth in contrast to the Model 27 which has very fine checkering.

Colt Detective Special

One of Compagna's colleagues carries a revolver in shoulder holster. Only a grip can be seen. Am examination of the grip indicates that there is a very strong possibility that the revolver is what is commonly known as the Colt Detective Special (3rd Generation) which was manufactured from 1973 - 1986 (approximately).

Beretta Model 70

In the final scene a policeman holds a Beretta pistol. Its size and general shape allows to guess it to be a Beretta Model 70.
