The Christofel of Grimmelshausen Adventurous Simplizissimus (German: Des Christoffel von Grimmelshausen abenteuerlicher Simplizissimus) is a 1975 German-French-Austrian historical adventure-comedy television series, based on the first part of the 1668 Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen novel "Der abentheuerliche Simplicissimus Teutsch" (commonly known in English as "Simplicius Simplicissimus"). Set during the Thirty Years' War, the series stars Matthias Habich as roguish mercenary and adventurer Simplex Simplizissimus.

Trivia

In most live action media, the firing of muzzleloading firearms are either real firing (blanks of course) or all pyrotechnic produced, in this TV series it is a rather rare case where some gunshots are real, while some are just pyrotechnic effects. The two main differences is the lack of any flash from the flash pan and lack of movement in firing mechanisms in a pyrotechnic-produced flash, while the real gunshots of muzzleloaders have those details.
