Colt Walker

Though not seen in the film, the Colt Walker is mentioned when Little Bill (Gene Hackman) tells Beauchamp (Saul Rubinek) the true story of a famous gunfight between English Bob (Richard Harris) and a cowboy named Corky "Two-Gun" Corcoran. Bob missed twice, because he was drunk, while Corky hastily fired one round and shot his own toe off, then aimed his second shot carefully, but his Colt Walker "blew up in his hand, which was a failing common to that model." This is a true statement, as the cylinder walls of the Colt Walker were thinner than other models to accomodate the large .44 caliber balls and powder. An over-generous loading of powder could lead to a "chain fire", in which all of the chambers fire at once when a cylinder wall breaks.

Little Bill also jokingly mentions that Corky was nicknamed "Two-Gun" Corcoran not because he carried two pistols, but because his generous endowment was longer than his Colt Walker's barrel.

Colt Walker 1847 - .44 caliber.

Webley Bulldog

Was the use of the Webley bulldog a sort of intentional joke, because English Bob was discussing President Garfield being killed, and he carries the same weapon.
