A Classic Espionage Shooter

This game series may not be as popular Metal Gear or Splinter Cell was, but it's a well-made homage to the Bond movies with lots of fun gadgets and great humour. I was lucky enough to get my copy with a graphics card purchase--if any interested gamers see it, they should snap it up quickly.--Mazryonh 14:47, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Page Essentially Complete

Aside from the obviously fictional or unrelated non-firearm items in this game (which is supposedly set in 1967), the page is complete. Some final concerns for those more knowledgeable than I, some questions remain:

  • 1. Is AK-47 a bona-fide AK-47, or a more modern variant, or just another foreign-made clone/copy?
  • 2. What barrel length does the S&W Model 37 have? Does anyone else think that this "purse gun" (defined as a compact pistol that fits into a woman's purse for her self-defense) seems odd as a weapon choice for an operative, given its low round capacity, short barrel, and lack of suppressibility?
  • 3. Can anyone deduce the Thompson Contender's caliber and barrel length from the screenshots I posted? The unfired bullet is visible, which should help.

My thanks in advance to any who can offer their help. --Mazryonh 15:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

I think that the .38 was meant to be Cate's preferred weapon for self-defense. She WAS a thief, after all, so she would favor a compact, reliable weapon with a good amount of power. The P38 would have been a better choice and it may be offered by UNITY as a recommended sidearm (since it's available from the start), but she would like her little revolver better in case things got too hairy for a silenced weapon to really matter. Thanks for the feedback, but I would have thought that if for whatever reason she was caught during one of her larceny attempts, Cate would need better magazine capacity than just 5 rounds to shoot her way out of a situation. Why not a .357 magnum 6-shot short-barrelled revolver (.38 special for low recoil, .357 magnum for when you absolutely need the stopping power) instead? In fact, looking back on this game, I find it odd that German single-stack 9mm pistols from WWII are so popular among the goons in this game (why not M1911s or Browning Hi-Powers?), and this is a 1960s game, even! Maybe a suppressed M1911 in .455 Webley would work better for her "stealth weapon" (the .455 Webley is in keeping with Cate's UK origins, and the UK forces did get some M1911s from lend-lease) while the goons use the Smith and Wesson Model 10/Victory Model or the Model 27 (they don't need to keep guns in purses, after all). If they had the Model 27, then .357 magnum ammunition could be a rare but powerful item pickup (instead of the fictional HE and Cyanide-tipped rounds).--Mazryonh 17:06, 18 April 2012 (CDT)

AKM

I think that its just a regular AK-47, rather then an AKM, as it doesn't have a slanted barrel.

Barnett Commando Crossbow

The Barnett Commando Crossbow appears in the game as the "Sportsman EX Crossbow." It is a viable alternative to the Hampton Carbine, as the latter is not always available in the pre-mission gear selection screen. The crossbow is just as silent and almost as deadly as the Hampton Carbine, albeit with a slower projectile travel time and a longer loading time due to its single-shot nature. It can use a variety of bolt types (fire, poison and explosive, for example), some of which can often be retrieved from dead enemies and reused. It can be fitted with a scope, but this version has only one level of zoom.
