Polish weapons

According to this website [1] (in Polish) during the filming of Kelly's Heroes the BAR was substituted with the Polish Browning wz. 1928 and the Colt 1911 pistols have been substituted by Polish Vis wz. 35 pistols. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Kmieciu 18:57, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Well just by looking at the screenshots, I think you are right about the BAR. The Wooden fore grip is the same on the Polish wz 1928. The grips on the FN BAR Type D is different. Also I think you are right about the Polish Radom Pistols. The grip looks too fat at the base to be the M1911A1. Funny. GM45's original screenshots identify the guns as Radoms, but the section was edited to call them M1911A1s, so GM45 got it right from the get go. I will change them. Is it the same gun that Petuko is using though? Look in the three shots where he's firing it and note the position of his hand. If there's a pistol grip, he's not using it. And it's hard to see if there is a pistol grip at all in this photo. --funkychinaman 21:13, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Is there a pistol grip?

You can see that the two arms of the bipod are connected just like on the Browning wz. 28 and unlike on the BAR M1918 or FN model D machine gun Kmieciu 21:55, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

This is definitely a wz.28 Polish BAR. I changed the photo captions to remove reference to the rear sight being backwards; it is not. The grip/FCG assemblies of the wz.28 and US BAR are interchangeable, so it is possible that an American non-pistol-grip was used in the gun in some scenes (or that they had multiple prop guns, with both types of grip).

Grenades

I know they're supposed to be Mk 2s, but the hand grenades look more like F1 hand grenade. --Funkychinaman (talk) 03:13, 26 January 2014 (EST)

Tanks

I know it's not related to Kelly's Heroes, but since we mentioned it, the tanks in Battle of the Bulge are M47 Pattons not M41 Walker Bulldogs Majorcamo (talk) 19:41, 4 May 2015 (EDT)

Tank commander's sidearm

The pistol in the tank commander's holster seems like it's probably a Walther P38. It's small and fuzzy in the screenshot, but it does appear to have a brown grip (bakelite?), with the bottom 'toe' on front strap, and then the heel magazine release button on the rear of it.

It wouldn't be limited to what was actually being issued by Germany as it's a movie, but it's difficult to come up with anything else which would look the same in that holster. The CZ52 pistol could look similar but it has a smaller and subtler magazine release at its heel, the early Sig P210 could kind of fit, but the angle is a bit steeper and the bump at the bottom which I'm presuming is a magazine release appears to be solid at the sides, rather than being open. CZ27 would be too small overall and also has a smaller release button. There's P38s with the reddish-brown bakelite grips seen in holsters elsewhere in the movie, so I'm thinking that this is PROBABLY what the tank commander has too.
