Talk:Far Cry (2009)

Since this was a Uwe Bolle film, I avoided it. I assume it sucked? - Gunmaster45

You assume correctly. It wasn't quite as painful to watch as "BloodRayne" (the only other Uwe Boll film that I've seen). I'll give it that much. But it was still very painful to watch. The funniest thing to me was the fact that Til Schweiger can't speak English very well, so there are a whole bunch of references in the script to him being German. Even though he has an American name (like the character from the game) and is ex-U.S. Army SF. Ugh.
The fact that it had so much hardware was nice (including just about every long gun in H&K's catalog, plus much use of the P226), but even that was dulled by the fact that the gunfire sound F/X are terrible, and the fact that everyone in the movie has awful gun handling technique. -MT2008
I recently saw BloodRayne II on Sci-Fi and aside from a shaky camera it wasn't super bad. Guess I shut it off before it got really bad. - Gunmaster45

Blu Ray coming

Well, guess what...a year after I started this page, I finally rented this movie on Blu Ray so that I could cap it. A Blu Ray update is forthcoming. -MT2008 15:05, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Balls to you, man

I didn't even have the nerve to watch this piece of shit. You got some balls to watch this and cap it. Excalibur01 03:55, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

I didn't have a good enough copy of the film to screencap it. Dunno if I'll do that, though maybe it looks nice enough in Blu-Ray that I could do it (with a gag in between my teeth, of course...) -MT2008 04:04, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't even watch the trailer of this piece of crap. The only redeeming qualities of Uwe Boll is that he will eventually die, or go bankrupt, seeing as how he finances his own "films" if you could call them that. These movies are worse then about 80% of those "Sy-Fy Original Movies". At least those are simply copies of good movies that are just done rather poorly. -W190009637
Jesus, is it really that bad? I didn't think even Uwe Boll could fuck up one of the finest video games of our time, but it seems he did. The trailer almost makes it look good, until you see Jack Carver is German, which gets a WTF from everyone. so I think I'll get a copy online, just to watch and laugh. M14fanboy 00:39, 18 Sept

Oh come on. It's not THAT bad. I personally like to just shut off my brain and watch an action movie. Harkens back to the pre-Die Hard days. But bad news, Uwe Boll will never go bankrupt. He takes advantage of German tax law(or something) to make huge money even if his films tank. So, yeah. --ManiacallyChallenged 00:30, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Whew. I tried to screen-cap it, but it didn't go well. The majority of the shots were unusable because of quality(a lot of camera movement) or darkness. I tried to post some of 'em, but whatever. This movie ain't work much more effort. --ManiacallyChallenged 04:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Whats worse is that he probably wont go bankrupt, and these films will continue. Someone pointed out, either Game Revolution or Game Politics or some such, that there is a loophole inn German tax law that basically allows people to cheat on their taxes by financing a movie if it flops. It's just like The Producers but real. So his finances are only limited by how many people that don't want to pay taxes he can find.

(1)You're wrong about cheating on taxes. There WAS a German government subsidy intended to help film production in Germany. Nobody cheated on their taxes. The government allowed investors to write off their losses AHEAD of time, before the film was released, so it was perfectly legal. No cheating there if the law allows it. Since Boll movies would cost 150$ million dollars and bring in $24 million, any money on the top would be gravy. (2) Germany got rid of that tax loophole BECAUSE of Boll. Now you notice that Boll can't get the huge budgets he once did and whatever he does get, the budgets are much smaller. MoviePropMaster2008 16:45, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

yeah alot like the producers. well i got an idea everyone should goand see hisnext film so its really successfull so just like in producers he goes to jail. but this wont happen because i'd much rather shit my brain out through my eyes than watch his movies if you can call them that smish34

Not quite. What hes doing is perfectly legal, if his movie is successful its his investors who suffer financially. No jail time.

NO, Boll never screwed his investors. And that sets him apart from MANY FILMMAKERS. His investors were taking advantage of the German Government's Tax rebate/credit loophole at the time. They write off their loss AHEAD of time and then take a percentage of the take (which is always less than the cost, but by that point who cares), since all proceeds are gravy. Although I agree that Uwe Boll has made some pretty bad movies (including this one), there is some evidence he's getting better. I know someone who got to see Rampage already and said it was actually good (even though it depicts its main character buying full-auto SMGs on the Internet). Also, I actually kinda liked Postal. -MT2008 15:29, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Honestly, I think people on the internet have too big of a hate boner for Uwe to admit that he's actually improving. Far Cry really wasn't that bad, especially if you took the video game out of the equation.-protoAuthor 20:09, 1 September 2011 (CDT)

DShK

I haven't seen the movie (thank God) but from the caps, it looks like the supposedly fake DShK is actually a real DShK. Wouldn't the non-disintergrating links be a giveaway? Thoughts? --Funkychinaman 23:29, 7 May 2011 (CDT)
