Hold on, weren't the Republicans the ones who lost the war? BeardedHoplite 22:01, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Wasn't it the Nationalists? Okay well give me time to add the screen caps and then I'll make changes if necessary. --Jcordell 22:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
The Nationalists (Fascists under Franco) won the war. The losing side was made up of everyone else including Royalists, Republicans, Communists (the main reason Stalin gave aid in the fight against Franco), Foreign Volunteers, and even some Anarchists. -Anonymous
I knew when I decided to make this page I could be opening myself up for all types of criticism (not that I think anybody is flaming me right now. Pointing out historical mistakes is okay with me).I know we have at least one user, Rafa, (if not more) who is Spanish and I understand that in some circles emotions still run strong about the war. But I've been wanting to add this movie to imfdb for awhile. --Jcordell 02:22, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

the character of Manuel Artiguez (Gregory Peck) is based on Spanish anarchist guerrilla, Francisco Sabaté Llopart‎ (1915-1960).Below is a photo of him. Here is a link that tells more about the actual man, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Sabat%C3%A9_Llopart --Jcordell 01:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
