Special Unit 2 (2001)


Though most of the weaponry used by Special Unit 2 members, including their Tactical teams, were science fiction based 'special weapons' designed to kill creatures known an 'links'. Real firearms were occasionally used. Most real firearms were seen wielded by criminals or the regular uniformed Chicago Police officers, those who were not part of the elite 'monster hunting' unit.

Smith & Wesson Model 38/49 Bodyguard

Smith & Wesson Model 49 .38 Special
  • Seen carried by Kate Benson (Alexondra Lee) in the Pilot Episode when she is still a uniformed Chicago Police Officer. After she dumps her entire magazine from her duty Beretta 92FS into a Gargoyle with no effect she pulls out a Smith & Wesson Model 38/49 Bodyguard out of her ankle holster and fires another five shots into the Link. She later draws it to try to arrest Nick O'Malley before she realizes who he is.

Claridge Hi-Tec/Goncz GA-9

Goncz GA-9 - target version of Goncz GS-9 - 9mm
  • Seen modified into sci fi pistols at the Special Unit 2 Armory in the HQ - Season 1, Episode 6

Glock 17

A Generation 2 Glock 17 in 9x19mm. This model added finger stepping and cuts to the backstrap of the frame to make it easier to hold than the Generation 1 model.
  • Seen wielded by Chicago Police Uniformed officers, despite the fact that the real life CPD shies away from the 9mm.
  • An obviously fake rubber Glock 17 is seen wielded by Carl the Gnome (Danny Woodburn) as he tries to rob a convenience store in the Pilot Episode.

SIG-Sauer P220

SIG-Sauer P220 Black - .45 ACP
  • Seen wielded by Chicago Police Uniformed officers, which is actually an approved duty sidearm for the department.

Colt Gold Cup National Match

Colt Gold Cup National Match (Mark IV, Series 70) - .45 ACP
  • In the pilot episode, Captain Richard Page (Richard Gant) uses a Colt Gold Cup National Match to shoot Carl the Gnome (Danny Woodburn) as a demonstration for then new recruit Kate Benson. He actually fires 9 shots out of the pistol. It has the higher profile front sight and adjustable rear sight.

Ithaca Model 37

Ithaca Model 37 riot version - 12 Gauge
  • Twin short barreled Ithaca Model 37 shotguns with MP5K style foregrips are carried by the 'housewife' (Jennifer Clement) when she is under the influence of 'the sandman' in Season 2, Episode 1 "The Grain".

Beretta 92FS

Beretta 92FS - 9x19mm.
  • Seen carried by Kate Benson (Alexondra Lee) in the Pilot Episode when she is still a uniformed Chicago Police Officer and she dumps her entire magazine into a Gargoyle with no effect.
  • Seen carried by Uniformed Chicago Police Officers in Season 2, Episode 1 "The Grain".

  • Used by Detective Kate Benson (Alexondra Lee) when under the influence of 'the sandman' in Season 2, Episode 1 "The Grain".

  • In Season 2, Episode 13 "The Wish", a Stainless Taurus PT92AFS with wood grips is used by Natalie the Djinn (Daisy McCrackin) to try to kill Nick O'Malley as a way of granting his angry girlfriend's wish.

  • Used by Chicago Police SWAT in the series.
