Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988)

The following weapons were used in the film Return of the Living Dead Part II:

MGC Replica M16

Visible throughout the film when not firing are the MGC Replica M16 rifle from Japan.

M16A1

When seen firing most of the American soldiers use M16A1 rifles. Most notably at the blockade at the bridge.

Fake M16A2

One of the soldiers in the film is using an AR15 variant with a heavy barrel and A2 handguards. We don't see the ejection port side of the rifle so we cannot determine if it has a brass deflector, but the rear sights are definitely A1 style. During the 1980s, many barreled uppers from other manufacturers were commercially available and were mated to either Colt lower receivers or lower receivers made by other companies, like Bushmaster. It is designated as an AR15 variant in that the actor only fires semi auto.

M60 machine gun

The M60 Machine gun is first seen at a road blockade, mounted again on a jeep, which is parked in front of an M60 tank. It is later seen when two soldiers confront the horde of zombies and fail to stop them. The Sarge in charge of the M60 is a young Mitch Pileggi of X-Files fame.

Remington 870 Field Gun

George Crowley (Don Maxwell) bring out a Remington 870 Field Gun when he hears his trash cans being knocked over by Ed and Joey. However he gets eaten before he has the chance to use it. Another Remington field gun is seen in the gun cabinet that is raided by Lucy to acquire firearms.

Smith & Wesson Model 27/28

Jesse selects a Smith & Wesson Model 27 / 28 to use against the zombies after rejecting the Winchester Model 62. However he only gets off one shot before the recoil knocks the gun out of his hands and under a cabinet. It is heavily implied that the revolver is a .44 magnum in the script, however, multiple viewings of the revolver reveal that the cylinder holes and barrel opening are too small to be a .44 magnum. Also the size of the revolver in the boy's hands are deceptive. The smaller .357 magnum revolver seems to be the one used. It could be either the Model 27 or Model 28 (depending on finish).

M2 Flamethrower

An M2 Flamethrower is used by a soldier at the power plant.

A 'soldier' fires the M2 flamethrower at the camera. The shot is actually slightly out of focus. The lens flare indicates that the camera is behind glass. In a shot like this the camera is set to run behind a barrier and the operator actually leaves for safety. Unfortunately, sometimes the focus needs readjusting and there is no camera operator to fix it.
The 'soldier' lifts his M2 to fire. In articles around the time of the film's release, it was written that this gentleman, who is actually too old to be an lowly Enlisted Man, was the pyrotechnics expert on the set and he was dressed up in costume to operate the M2 for safety reasons.

Kentucky Flintlock Pistol

A Kentucky Flintlock pistol is seen in the gun cabinet that Lucy raids for guns. It is only really visible when Jesse Wilson reaches for the revolver.
