John Cassavetes (1929-1989) was an American actor/director who appeared in such films as The Killers (1964) and The Dirty Dozen. He also was the father of actor/director Nick Cassavetes. He often collaborated with his actress wife Gena Rowlands on several films he directed, including 1980's Gloria.
