Welcome to the Internet Movie Firearms Database, or IMFDb. The purpose of this page is to ensure users not familiar with the Wiki-type system or the format of the site can be aided in their efforts.

Searching
- Some tips to make searching for your favorite films, tv shows, animes, and video games easier on IMFDb.
1) When searching the site for a film, television show, anime, or video game, be sure to type the title correctly with proper captilization, spelling, etc. The search can come up blank if the title is improperly entered.
2) Pages with titles beginning with "The" are moved to the end of the title; (Ex: "The Best Site Ever" is "Best Site Ever, The"). Most pages are redirected to still go to the page even if the title is entered starting with "The" but some pages may lack this, so you're better off searching with the "The" at the end of the title.
3) If the search for your specified title turns up blank, search the categories seen at the top left of the page. The titles are listed alphabetically, so search based on the first letter of the title. As mentioned in tip 2, titles beginning with "The" are listed with it at the end, so don't look for titles in the "T" section if they begin with the.
4) IMFDb is not unabridged, and likely won't be for a long time. If a page is not currently on IMFDb, we apoligize for your inconveniance. If you own a movie, TV series, anime, or video game and would like to assist the site in its ultimate goal, please feel free (but see "How to make a page" first). If you are unfamiliar in the weapons used in it, keep in mind this is a huge site with many brilliant minds in firearms knowledge, including movie armorers. Eventually you will be assisted, so fear not.
Making a Page
- Even now we still have people unaware on how to properly make a page. The site has a format that should be followed to complete a page properly, and a page not following these standards is not site-worthy. We encourage new users and worthy contributors to the site, but unless you follow the format correctly, you will not gain the status. This section is designed to aid the new users in page making edicate.
1) This is very important for new users to understand. Building empty or effortless pages is unacceptable. You assist no one by building crap pages, and sully the good name of IMFDb. We hope new users to the site are enticed by the number of completed films and pages we've made, and coming across an empty page or crap page is very disapointing, and we try to avoid it at all costs. And those who expect other users to do all the work for them are ridiculously thick in the head. Lazy users are succeptable for being banned from the site if they continuously follow this edicate.
2) This site has many users and administators who are very familiar with the site's format and wiki-style layouts. If trouble should come about, ask the guys here for some assistance. But don't bombard them with questions, they are busy too.
3) The most prefered page a user can make is filled with screencaps (images of the firearms taken directly from the film, show, anime, video game), has a film poster in the top right, has proper links to the gun and actors listed on the page, and has a stock image of the firearm itself (film armorer MoviePropMaster2008 has worked very hard to give IMFDb as many of its own gun images from his company's armorery as possible, so use them here and here alone).
Lets Start a Page
- Here's an image guide on how to start a page, since everything is easier to understand when seen done, not heard.
1) First we cover the basic things to add to a page: You should add the introduction sentence, add the categories, and a movie poster. Let's build a page as an example. (note: the wiki-functions will be shut off so you can see what should be written to get a result)
- First we need to add the intro sentence:

- Next comes the poster. Go to the Upload file page, located on the bottom of the options list on the left of the screen. Click on it and this page will show up:
- When you paste the link on the page, you have to do it properly. Just pasting it like this:
Image:SevenCover.jpg
Nothing happens. If you link it like this:
[[Image:SevenCover.jpg]]
You'll get this:
This looks bad and you have no control over it. Instead, write it like this:
[[Image:SevenCover.jpg|thumb|right|300px|''Seven (1995)'']]
The "thumb" option will put the text frame around the image. The "right" moves the poster to the right of the page (you can also write none, left, and center. None is prefered). The "300px" controls the size of the image. And the "Seven (1995)" is the caption you fill in the image. Writing this text exactly as seen is important, or else it won't work properly.
The result is this:
- Now that your poster is up, you have to control the spacing from the poster and table of contents from the lower spots on the page. Put in this:

This will allow you to select where you want the table of contents to appear. If you have less than four guns on the page, this TOC will not show up. Unless you put this on. Now add this:
<br clear=all>
This controls the spacing. It will automatically set the spacing correctly and prevent overlapping text-to-image ratio.
So far you should have:

- The final step is to categorize the page based on its genres. Checking IMDb.com helps greatly in this aspect. The film Se7en is labeled under [[Category:Movie]] because it is a movie. Then its genres are listed as, [[Category:Crime]] and [[Category:Thriller]]. All of these categories should be listed at the absolute bottom of the page, and remain under the text added later as well (this makes them easier to find).

- Note: Some parts are not in Wiki-stye to make sure they will not affect this page as they would the finished page.

Building the Page
- This is the hard part, but to a dedicated user, the fun part. Building the meat of the page requires patience, memory, and of course, gun knowledge. This section will aid you in building the heart of the page in proper format.
