The Ascent (Voskhozhdeniye) is a 1977 Soviet war drama directed by Larisa Shepitko and based on the novel "Sotnikov" by Vasil Bykov.

German soldiers and several Hilfspolizei (auxiliary police) personnel are armed with MP40 submachine guns. MP40s are also seen in hands of partisans.

Mosin Nagant M1891/30

Many Soviet partisans, including Sotnikov (Boris Plotnikov), are armed with Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles.

Mauser Rifle

Partisans, including Rybak (Vladimir Gostyukhin), and Hilfspolizei personnel are armed with Mauser rifles. Due to the straigh bolt handle they can be identified as Czech Vz-24 rifles.
