The X-Files is a 6 episode event miniseries that is set 13 years after the conclusion of events of the original television series. The continuation is helmed by original creator Chris Carter and will exhibit both standalone 'Monster of the Week'-style stories as well as episodes touching on the previous overarching conspiracy mythology. As with the first five seasons of the original show as well as the second film, the six-episode event will be filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Annabeth Gish and William B. Davis as well as 'The Lone Gunmen' (Bruce Harwood, Dean Haglund and Tom Braidwood) all return for the miniseries, which will also feature several newcomers, including Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell. The event miniseries premiered in the US on FOX in January of 2016.
