Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a 2017 FPS. It is the eighth major entry in the Wolfenstein series and a direct sequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order. The game is set in 1960's United States of America (known as "The American Territories") in an alternate universe, where Nazi Germany has won the Second World War and is currently the only superpower in the world. The player reprises the role of William "B.J" Blazkowicz, who has barely survived the events of the prequel and is now charged with meeting with the surviving resistance groups in the United States and organizing for a revolution against the Nazi regime.

Gameplay Overview

Gameplay is similar to the previous game: a single-player-focused shooter where B.J. can carry all weapons (excluding heavy ones) as well as several grenades and hatchets (which replace knives). Despite his condition, B.J can still dual-wield weapons, though this time he can wield different ones on either hand. Weapon upgrades are now acquired by finding upgrade kits hidden throughout the levels.

The following weapons make an appearance in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus:

Handguns

"Pistole"

A heavily modified version of Luger P08 makes a return from Wolfenstein: The New Order as the weapon of choice of Nazi officers (Although it is now simply referred to as "Pistole" and is semi-auto only). Following upgrades can be unlocked for the pistol throughout the campaign: External suppressor, extended magazines and a "Magnum" upgrade, which increases the damage (and also the recoil) of the weapon.

Luger P08 with black grips - 9x19mm
In-game model of the "Pistole".

"Kampfpistole"

The Kampfpistole returns from Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, though this time it is now fed from a drum magazine instead of being breech-loaded. Upgrades include a shoulder stock to negate recoil, a spring loader that allows the gun to fire a 3-round salvo, and modified ammo that flies like rockets.

Leuchtpistole - 26.65mm
In-game model of the "Kampfpistole".

Submachine Guns

"Maschinenpistole"

The Maschinenpistole is essentially the counterpart to the SMG from the previous game's prologue, being the standard-issue weapon for Nazi soldiers stationed in the American Territories. Its design is primarily based on various Cold War submachine guns such as the Carl Gustav M/45 and the Smith & Wesson 76. Upgrades include an integral suppressor, a drum magazine that doubles its capacity, and an odd "Nailgun" mod which fires heated bullets at a slower speed.

Assault rifles

"Sturmgewehr"

The Sturmgewehr returns from Wolfenstein: The New Order, though as a slightly different model compared to its predecessor. It has a slightly downgraded capacity of 30 rounds and is wielded by elite soldiers. In terms of visuals, it has the front sight of an AK-47 variant with the general body and stock of the FN LAR. Upgrades include jungle-style dual magazines, a scope that converts the weapon to into a semi-auto marksman rifle, and armor-piercing rounds.

Original AK-47 variant - 7.62x39mm.
Original FN LAR (Light Automatic Rifle) - full auto rifle - 7.62x51mm NATO.
In-game model of the "Sturmgewehr".
