Waves of the Black Sea (Volny Chyornogo morya) is a Soviet TV series (filmed in 1975, released in 1976), a screen adaptation of three historical novels by Valentin Kataev. Stories are set in 1905-1944 in the city of Odessa on the Black Sea coast and depict the events of Russian revolutions 1905 and 1917 and the partisans struggle in Nazi Germany occupied Odessa in 1941-1944. Main characters of the series are two close friends, Pyotr (Petya) Bachey and Gavrila (Gavrik) Chernoivanenko.
