Walking Tall is a 1973 action drama directed by Phil Karlson that focuses on Buford Pusser (Joe Don Baker), a former professional wrestler who returned to his hometown in Tennessee only to find that it has been corrupted by gambling and prostitution. Angered by the authorities' nonaction, Pusser decides to run for sheriff and upon his win, proceeds to clean the town up, usually with an array of wooden clubs. Inspired by a true story, the film met box office success, leading to two direct sequels: Walking Tall Part 2 (1975) and Walking Tall: Final Chapter (1977), both starring Bo Svenson as Pusser. A feature film remake starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was released in 2004 and also was followed by sequels: Walking Tall: The Payback and Walking Tall: Lone Justice (both 2007), both of these sequels starring Kevin Sorbo.

The following weapons were used in the film Walking Tall:

Handguns

Smith & Wesson Model 10

Most sheriff deputies, including Grady Coker (Bruce Glover) and Obra Eaker (Felton Perry), carry Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers.

Buford hands a revolver to Obra Eaker, promoting him to sheriff deputy.

Colt Trooper Mk III

A Colt Trooper Mk III is Sheriff Buford Pusser's (Joe Don Baker) personal handgun.

Smith & Wesson N-frame revolver

Sheriff Al Thurman (Gene Evans) carries a revolver with ivory grips. It is seen only in holster. The revolver is possibly a large N-frame S&W.

An example of N-frame revolver: Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum with ivory grips - .357 Magnum. This particular S&W was ordered and carried by Lt. Col. Gen. Staff. George S. Patton.

Smith & Wesson Model 36

In one scene Callie Hacker (Rosemary Murphy) holds a snub nose revolver. It is seen very briefly and unclear. Smith & Wesson Model 36 is a possible guess but the frame seems too large.

Star Model B

In one scene a female assassin fires a pair of pistols at Buford Pusser. Due to darkness, lit only by muzzle flashes, one of the pistols is seen only marginally, and another one appears to be a Star Model B, identified by the external extractor.

Submachine Guns

Smith & Wesson 76

During the attack on Buford Pusser's car on the road the attackers use Smith & Wesson 76 SMGs.

Nine-years-old Buford's son Mike (Leif Garrett) sits at the bed of his wounded father with a shotgun that also appears to be a Remington 870 but in a smaller chambering (the gun is Buford's Christmas gift to Mike).

Assault Rifles

M16/SP1

In the final scene Buel Jaggers (Arch Johnson) holds some version of M16, most likely M16/SP1.
