Vietnam War Story (1987-1989)

Vietnam War Story was an HBO anthology series that aired episodes from 1987 to 1989. Each episode gave a unique perspective about the Vietnam War as told by soldiers from both sides, nurses as well as civilians. Also notable for early performances from Wesley Snipes and Eriq La Salle.

Rifles

M16 Rifle

The M16 rifle is the standard rifle carried by the majority of the American soldiers in the series.

The original M16, the first version, firing in a 20-round magazine, adopted in large numbers by the U.S. Army in Vietnam. It would later be replaced by the upgraded M16A1 - 5.56mm
In "The Pass", McCready (Tony Becker) is told to put the barrel of his M16 to his face to know what it's like to be in combat.
In "The Pass", McCready (Tony Becker) and French (Wendell Pierce) have their M16s out during a confrontation.

MGC Replica M16 rifle

A number of characters were seen carrying MGC M16 Replica rifles for scenes where they didn't carry the blank-firing M16 rifles.

The M14 rifle is featured prominently in "Separated", which spotlights a US Marine platoon.
