Welcome to IMFDB

Before you do any editing please take the time to read the Rules, Standards and Principles. This is a very important document that explains how this website is setup as well as telling you what is and isn't allowed. If it is determined by an admin that you have not read these rules, your account will be suspended. Continued non-compliance may result in a permanent ban.

There are a number of pages that desperately need your help. You can find these Incomplete pages here.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here but make sure to sign your post by typing --~~~~.

Finally, IMFDB has a forum set up here that is only available to registered members. There is lots of good stuff to see there. If you would like to join the forum, please post HERE and an account will be created for you.

Now, HAPPY EDITING! Zackmann08 IMFDB Chief of Operations (talk) 11:24, 4 June 2013 (EDT)

Wolfenstein 3D

The G19 and the P22 are only in a picture, one glamorizing a killer no less. The M16A1 and the AK are not actually in the game, the minigun doesn't resemble any real firearm, and having played every episode of the original Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny, I don't recall there being any grenades, C4 (which don't really count) or flamethrowers (which you apparently can't identify.) That only leaves the poorly rendered Luger and MP40, which only bear a passing resemblance to the real thing, which is something you might expect from a game originally released in 1992. You should've seen that a previous version of the page was already deleted for pretty much the exact same reason.

The Rules also recommend getting approval from admins regarding mods, and from what I can tell from Googling Voxelstein, you won't be getting that approval from me. --Funkychinaman (talk) 03:47, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

  • Granades... In ports, not the PC version. Atary Jaguar, for example. About Minigun... I understand your logic, but then why this weapon seen in many pages of this site? About W22 and G19 - in many pages on this site we can see "ususuable weapons". Why not in this game? Or you don`t want to see the picture of famouse killer in this site? Plus real shotgun in Voxelstein. Sorry for my poor English. P.S. If you want to check weapons in Voxelstein 3D, load free it with site from delete page and show it, there is only one short level. It is not mod, this is fully-3D-detalisated remake. You can see in picture, what pistol is not sprile. Original Wolfenstein show object from sprites, Voxelstein - from voxels, like in Minecraft :). STEN (talk) 03:59, 23 August 2013 (EDT)
If we were talking about an otherwise eligible game like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and you wanted to throw in a fictitious minigun, that's one thing, but this page isn't eligible to start with. The same goes for unusable weapons in pictures. (If you were to do a movie page where the only gun was a poster on the wall, it'd be deleted.) And no, I personally see no need to glamorize someone who murdered 32 people. As for Voxelstein, I don't think the voxels are an improvement, real 3D or not, the old game looked a lot better. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:15, 23 August 2013 (EDT)
  • OK, I agree. STEN (talk) 21:33, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

I would recommend just letting it go and moving on. You are trying way to hard to make this eligible, and even if you somehow succeed, the page won't be that good (if that 78px wide image of the shotgun is any indicator), and you'll have other people constantly questioning its eligibility as well. Why force that on yourself and others? There are SO MANY OTHER THINGS you can be working on instead of this. --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:02, 14 October 2013 (EDT)

  • Because I`m a fan of Wolfesntein series. By the way, I`m making a game what bazed in the engine of this game. Maybe, the page about this game will be in this enciclopedia. --STEN (talk) 07:58, 15 October 2013 (EDT)
  • About Ithaca 37 - there are images about all shotguns with forearm:

What shotguns - Mossberg 500, Wincherster 1300 or Ithaca 37 - is on sprite? Of course, Ithaca. --STEN (talk) 08:11, 15 October 2013 (EDT)

I'm a fan of American Dad and The Simpsons, but I'm not going to work on a page for either because I've been told they're not eligible. And I'd like to remind you of our rules regarding self-published works. Move on. --Funkychinaman (talk) 10:03, 15 October 2013 (EDT)
  • I did`t understand. You want to stop the writing of this page or say what this is good idea? --STEN (talk) 11:35, 15 October 2013 (EDT)
I think you should stop with Wolfenstein and move on to other projects. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:45, 15 October 2013 (EDT)
  • I don`t want to move in other projects. In minimum, I want to practic and learn English, becaise I`m a russian 13-years old user/ For me, other english projects (including Wikipedia) aren`t interesting. I stopped to write about Wolfenstein, but what pages needs to editing and addind else? The page about Duke writed. The page about Doom 3 is not eligible. I`m puzzled. --STEN (talk) 05:40, 16 October 2013 (EDT)
There have been hundreds of thousands of movies, television shows and video games in the twenty years since Wolfenstein 3D came out. Why not take a crack at one of the incomplete pages? I'm sure you can figure something out. --Funkychinaman (talk) 08:51, 16 October 2013 (EDT)
  • About my self-mading game - following your logic, if I even make it in absoluutelly official level (and I will be so famous as Carmack), this is not eligible? Hmm... --STEN (talk) 05:49, 16 October 2013 (EDT)

Evil Tim is correct, your formatting is incorrect. Please refer to the IMFDB Style Guide for the correct formatting. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:17, 30 November 2013 (EST)

  • Sorry, I wanted to say - "editing to make this page better". In Russian this two words are simular in meaning and writing. My fromatting is incorrrect, and I know it. I don`t know, how I can translate my mind correctly. You shouldn`t trust any information from Google Translator :). STEN (talk) 19:23, 30 November 2013 (EST)
You can allways email me in Russian on gereint at gmail.com, and I'll try to help. You know, I'm here the admin in charge for Russian-speaking users. :) With best wishes, Greg-Z (talk) 10:59, 1 December 2013 (EST)
  • I knew it, when I registrated here. But I don`t want to write on Russian here, because I want to learn Enlish. It`s cheaper and effective then going to special schools and takin special tutors - in schools you can`t speak with peoples who have English as native languge. If I will speak Russian, it`s won`t be better - I think, you`re, anyway, more expirienced in Russian then I in English, I hope, you understand me. :-). --STEN (talk) 04:11, 2 December 2013 (EST)
You're already better at English than some people I've seen online who speak it as a first language, it's just that bad English on an actual content page isn't a great thing to have. If you want us to help you with your English, you might want to consider posting your edits on talk pages; that way someone else can add your information to the main article. Evil Tim (talk) 05:55, 2 December 2013 (EST)

Wolf 3D

I thought we had an understanding and that you were going to move on to other projects. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:47, 12 December 2013 (EST)

  • Hmm, I went to other projects. But this infrormasion is a trash on my page, and I thought, what other users can write it better then I. If you REALLY don`t want to see this page on this project and sure what you are absolutelly right - delete it, I won`t be angry. It`s your and only your opinion. --STEN (talk) 09:53, 12 December 2013 (EST)

Kavkazskiy plennik

The page was created half a month ago, and it's still "Work in Progress". Have you plans to upload more screenshots? If you cannot complete this page for some reason, then it would be better to mark it as "Incomplete", so some other user can complete it. Greg-Z (talk) 02:25, 3 January 2014 (EST)

That`s because now I have not any time to work with this. If other yousers will want to, they can complete it. I`m not sure what I`ll be able to do it. STEN (talk) 03:19, 3 January 2014 (EST)

  • Added a warning. And also - if you can, please, change a color in the mark. Dark blue or dark purple on the dark black are... ugly. White is much better. STEN (talk) 03:24, 3 January 2014 (EST)
OK, I'll put this film in my "To Do" list. And sorry, I cannot change colors in templates, only Zackmann08, Chief of Operations, can do it. Greg-Z (talk) 05:06, 3 January 2014 (EST)

Making pages

Please consult the IMFDB Style Guide before you make more pages. Pay special attention to the part about the headings. Thanks. --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:07, 4 January 2014 (EST)

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Do you actually have the game? You're not just using youtube, are you? --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:44, 23 May 2014 (EDT)

Hello, having stumbled onto your page for this game, I realise that your English is perhaps not up to the standard appropriate for this site. I understand why this is, and offer to help you, if you would like. I propose that you let me know when you want to input, and I will help guide you to the high standard visitors expect. Thanks, Sandymon (talk)

OK. I`m not just use YouTube. When I will be ready, please, help me with text. I`m not Englishman, and I can make mistakes. Because I don`t see big diffense, for example, with past perfect and past continous. I tried to make good text. It can be not excellent, I understand it. P.S. I have ther game, but I can`t play the game so often. So I have to make some shots from YouTube. And for the game... Polish and Russian are near language. So I understand Anya ang other Polishmans more then english-speaking game characters and can dont`t look on the subtitles. It a plus, heh? --STEN (talk) 01:24, 24 May 2014 (EDT)

  • PPS: if you can, add a orportynity for loading file in 24-bit .BMP format. I know, .jpeg is easier, but it destroy shots from old Highcolor, VGA and EGA games. --STEN (talk) 02:00, 24 May 2014 (EDT)
Nothing can be done in regards to file formats. It's jpgs or nothing. --Funkychinaman (talk) 02:19, 24 May 2014 (EDT)

Block for a week.

You are blocked for a week for violating the rules and arguing with admin. Read the rules and think about your behavior. Greg-Z (talk) 07:32, 10 June 2014 (EDT)

Message

Standards regarding thumbnail sizes are outlined in the IMFDB Style Guide, which I've been asking you to go over since last November. If you had read it, you would've also seen that all edits are to be in english with no exceptions.

If you have problems regarding seeing the weapon in the thumbnail, it is just a thumbnail, and you can click to see the full-sized image. If you feel your internet is too slow, then that is your problem, we are not going to alter our standards because you don't have decent internet in 2014. --Funkychinaman (talk) 13:07, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

Sorry, I was late to answer. So, at first, I have to insist that the rules must be followed. If you don't agree with the rules you can start a discussion about their changing. Maybe you'll find enough reasons to convince the community to change them. But until then you must follow the rules if you want to be a member of this community. Second, you are speaking about "common sense" as opposed to strict laws. I've seen such ideas many times, and any time they are victorious, wiki project is drowning into anarchy, as everyone has his own "common sense" and thinks that he knows better what is good for the project. And last but not least: you were banned for violating the rules after you were told not to do it. It was a conscious and deliberate action from you, and such behaviour is not tolerable. If you think that I was wrong you can ask any other admin to solve the question. Greg-Z (talk) 14:03, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

Hmm, you don't speak russian and your country is Russia? But I wanted to aks you not about this. Had a ban any practical sense? I see only lessening an activity of users About thinking what you reason wrong... Why? Keeping an argue with administrator is helpless - because he can always find a reason to ban user. Changing the rules - also. It`s not a first project where I`m a user. About the reasons - Ok. But remains a reason what user can load a file only 500px. A unthumbing doesn`t really give to user any unformation in this example.

conscious and deliberate action from you - what? I said only 2 offers. And about the breaking the rules - you said: "Size for screenshots is 500px, not 750". Why I should understand it as a rule? Where is the word "rule" here? You could just cancel it and write a reason. The result would be the same.

project is drowning into anarchy, because you don't have decent internet in 2014 - I would argue, but this is helpless because the reason higher.

"Александр Македонский - конечно, герой, но зачем стулья ломать?" From "The Government Inspector" from Nikolai Gogol. --STEN (talk) 21:11, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

IMFDB is English-language so I'm speaking English. If you want to speak Russian you can email me, my mail is on my page.
The rule that regulate the size of thumbnails is here: "IMFDB's preferred page format is a thumbnail of either 500px or 600px wide. Exceptions are allowed for unusually wide high quality panoramic shots or images of particular interest but these should be kept to a minimum. Full screen images should be 500px wide, Wide Screen images should be 600px wide, except when the capture is of lesser quality. Grainy or low quality DVD scans should be 500px regardless (when something looks substandard, it is better to present it in a smaller size). Very high quality widescreen images should always be at least 600px wide to showcase their appearance.". Have you read Rules, Standards and Principles? If not, then I recommend you to do it. Greg-Z (talk) 02:21, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
  • Presumably, I was wrong in this project. --STEN (talk) 04:35, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

As for Sacred, I'll do what I can, but I've never played the game, so there's not much I can do. It barely qualifies, since the firearms are so difficult to identify.

As for Wolfenstein, first off, I wasn't the first person to delete it. An earlier version of the page was deleted by admins three years ago. We're talking about a game from 1992, and the graphics just aren't good enough for proper IDs. (I know, I played all six episodes and Spear of Destiny when they were first released.) And while there have been ports, unless you have a working Atari Jaguar and the hardware to obtain screenshots, it's irrelevant. In the past eight months, you have not given us anything reason to believe that Wolfenstein SHOULD be eligible.

As I've been telling you for months now, move onto other projects. You started Prisoner of the Mountains, half-assed it, and someone else had to clean up your mess. Start small. Go rent or borrow a movie (not animated,) and create a page for that. It's good practice and allows you to demonstrate competency. I've helped write three help pages in the past year to help new users like you. Use those resources. --Funkychinaman (talk) 08:47, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

As I understood you, I should give you shots from other versions of Wolfenstein 3D, isn`t it? If it`s true, it`s not a problem. If you look into my page of user, you can see SNES, DOS and Macintosh versions - Atary is with Beretta 92FS. Other will be soon. For justise, I should said what Atary Jagyar has the best resolution of sprites and everything at all. I can play Atari version in emulator - Windows XP should allow me it. And I have covers from different versions - M16 and AK variants are exxcelent seeing. StG 44 clearly seen in Mission Packs for Sod - yes, it`s not id Software, but the game is official, destributed by id, created by FormGen (Destributor of SoD). MP40 in DOS. A better resolution of this shots - also not a problem. Now I add it on the wiki. --STEN (talk) 09:53, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

Drop this Sisyphean quest of yours and move on. This discussion is over. --Funkychinaman (talk) 11:46, 18 June 2014 (EDT)
  • Presumably, I was REALLY wrong in this project. If you met my reasons for this page thus (in the third time), I have no reasons to talk with you about anything. It`s much better to the project, presumably, to oust active user then works with him. So goodbye. --STEN (talk) 12:00, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

Stalin Subway

Can you please finish Stalin Subway first before moving onto other projects? --Funkychinaman (talk) 10:17, 27 October 2014 (EDT)

If the users were more friendly, I did it. But now I don't really want to do anything there - there are work on other project named on my page I should do. So maybe later. If you have any questions for me - you can ask me.

Drop this Sisyphean quest of yours and move on - it's your words. So I moved on.

Btw: this brenchy cranberry game is annoying even for me. --STEN (talk) 09:23, 28 October 2014 (EDT)

Please don't start pages you don't intend to finish. You have more flexibility in your own sandbox, but once it goes into production, it will come under greater scrutiny. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:41, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
Even so? I started to do this page before ban. After it I lost the pleasure to work there. So, if you think it's needs to rename this page - rename. To delete - delete. I can't forbid you to to it. --STEN (talk) 09:45, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
What ban? I've moved it to the discussion page, you can work on it, or not work on it, from there. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:49, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
