Handguns

Colt M1911A1

The M1911A1 is seen primarily used in Season 3 by Lt. Myron Goldman (Stephen Caffrey).

World War II Colt M1911A1 - .45 ACP

In "The Ties That Bind" (S3E03), Lt. Myron Goldman (Stephen Caffrey) pulls his M1911A1.

MGC M1911A1

Throughout the series, the MGC M1911A1 is sometimes seen in place of an actual M1911A1.

MGC Replica M1911A1

An M1911A1 is carried by Col. Carl Brewster (Carl Weathers) in "The Ties That Bind" (S3E03).

Colt MK IV Series 80

Unlike other officer and soldiers, 1st Lieutenant John McKay (Dan Gauthier) carries a blued Colt MK IV Series 80 with pearl grips that he keeps in a shoulder holster. This is anachronistic for the time period of the series, as the MK IV Series 80 was first produced in 1983.

In "The Luck" (S3E01), 1st Lieutenant John McKay (Dan Gauthier) carries what appears to be a blued Colt MK IV Series 80 with pearl grips.

Tokarev TT-33

NVA officers and some other characters can be seen armed with the Tokarev TT-33 pistols.

In "The Luck" (S3E01), the pistol is pulled by Major Diem (Dana Lee).

Walther PPK

A Walther PPK appears to be the pistol seen in the hands of Lt. Beller at the end of "Three Cheers for the Orange, White and Blue" (S3E19).

Rifles/Carbines

M16 Variants

The M16 rifle was the main rifle of the U.S. Army soldiers in Vietnam and is seen carried by most of the platoon. In the series, various models of the M16 are seen.

XM16E1 rifle with 20 round magazine - 5.56x45mm. What distinguishes it from the original M16 was the addition of the forward assist button and a chrome bolt carrier (which was later dropped with the M16A1).

In Season 3's premiere "The Luck" (S3E01), Purcell (Tony Becker) holds the XM16E1 with magazines taped together "jungle" style.

M16SP1

In Season 3's premiere "The Luck" (S3E01), the rifle used by Johnson on the right is the M16 SP1 variant.

An M16 (SP1) is carried by PFC Thomas 'Pop' Scarlet (Lee Majors) in "Vietnam Rag" (S3E17).

MGC Replica M16

In the scenes where blank-firing weapons were not needed, US soldiers often are seen carrying MGC M16 Replica rifles..

The MGC M16 Assault rifle: a non firing metal replica built by the Model Gun Corp of Japan and one of the most used non firing replicas of the M16 in movies and television.

In "Doc Hock" (S3E02), the rifle carried by 2nd Lt. Miller (Peter Murnik) is an MGC M16 replica.

In "Bodyguard of Lies" (S3E05), the rifle carried by Lt. Beller (Greg Germann) is in reality the MGC M16 replica.

In "Bodyguard of Lies" (S3E05), the rifle replica is held by Lt. Beller.

Colt XM177 (Colt Sporter Carbine)

A Colt Sporter Carbine modified to resemble the XM177 rifle is mainly seen being used by SFC Clayton "Zeke" Anderson (Terence Knox). For the remainder of the series, the Colt is loaded with the more accurate 20 round magazine.

The original XM177E1 - 5.56x45mm. The variant used in the show was a mockup made from a Colt Sporter Carbine with the barrel cut down to 10.25" and an aftermarket "CAR-15 style" flash hider installed.

The Colt Sporter Carbine is carried by SFC Clayton "Zeke" Anderson (Terence Knox) in "The Road to Long Binh" (S3E15).

The Colt Sporter Carbine is carried by Purcell in "War is a Contact Sport" (S3E18).

The Carbine is reluctantly held by Pvt. Francis 'Doc Hoc' Hockenberry (John Dye) in "War is a Contact Sport" (S3E18).

M1 Carbine

The M1 Carbine is carried by Lt. Pran (April Tran) in "Road to Long Binh" (S3E15).

The M1 Carbine is carried by Lt. Pran (April Tran) in "Road to Long Binh" (S3E15).

M2 Carbine

The M2 Carbine was used by Sgt. Marcus Taylor (Miguel A. Nunez, Jr.) in some of the SOG missions.

AKM

The AKM is one of the primary rifles used by VC and NVA forces in the series as well. While on SOG missions, Goldman usually carried this rifle.

In Season 3's premiere "The Luck" (S3E01), the AK rifle used by Goldman appears to be an AKM.

While on a SOG mission, Goldman is armed with the AKM rifle (note the open hooded sight) that lacks the usual slant muzzle brake in "The Ties That Bind" (S3E03).

AKMS

In later episodes, Goldman carries an AKMS. This also appears to be carried by Col. Brewster (Carl Weathers) in "Thanks for the Memories" (S3E08).

In "Road to Long Binh" (S3E15), Goldman fires his AKMS.

Norinco Type 56-1

The Norinco Type 56-1 fitted with a drum magazine is seen in the hands of Goldman in "Dead Man Tales" (S3E14). In "War is a Contact Sport" (S3E18), an NVA tank gunner atop a T-55 is seen using one that's fitted with a drum magazine.

The Norinco Type 56-1 fitted with a drum magazine is seen in the hands of Goldman in "Dead Man Tales" (S3E14).

In "War is a Contact Sport" (S3E18), an NVA tank gunner atop a T-55 is also seen using one that's fitted with a drum magazine.

SKS rifle

The SKS rifle is another rifle carried by NVA and VC fighters in the series.

An NVA soldier holds the SKS in "Road to Long Bihn" (S3E15).

Sniper Rifles

M14

The M14 Rifle was seen as a sniper rifle twice in Season 3. The rifle is used by 'Duke' Fontaine (Patrick Kilpatrick) in "World in Changes" (S3E10) and Lt. John McKay (Dan Gauthier) in "Dead Man Tales" (S3E14) .

Valmet M78 (sniper mockup)

In "World in Changes" (S3E10), a VC sniper is seen using a Valmet M78 fitted with a Dragunov-esque stock as well as a scope. The same VC sniper appears to change to using a Dragunov in the later episode "Dead Man Tales" (S3E14).

SVD Dragunov

The SVD Dragunov is seen used by a VC sniper in "Dead Man Tales" (S3E14). This appears to be a continuity error as a different rifle was used by the sniper in in "World in Changes" (S3E10).

Submachine Guns

Smith & Wesson M76

The Smith & Wesson M76 is seen used by Pvt. Ruiz (Ramon Franco) on some SOG missions. A bit of trivia: In 1966, the Swedish government blocked the sales of arms to the US as a protest against US involvement in the Vietnam conflict. As a result, Smith and Wesson created a clone of the Swedish M/45 which became known as the M76 on its release in 1967.

Ruiz opens up with the S&W M76 in "Cloud Nine" (S3E07).

Carl Gustav M45

The Carl Gustav M/45 is used by Cpl. Danny Purcell (Tony Becker) and CIA Agent Duke Fontaine (Patrick Kilpatrick) on some SOG missions. The US forces in Vietnam used "deniable" weapons for some ops, which included the Carl Gustav.

M3A1 "Grease Gun"

The M3A1 "Grease Gun" is the weapon seen used by Sgt. Marvin Johnson (Stan Foster) during the SOG missions.

Shotguns

Ithaca 37

The Ithaca 37 shotgun is seen in the hands of SFC Clayton "Zeke" Anderson (Terence Knox) in "Acceptable Losses" (S3E14).

Machine Guns

M60

The M60 is the chief weapon carried by Pvt. Alberto Ruiz (Ramon Franco) in the series.

M60D

The "D" variant of the M60 is seen mounted on Huey helicopters as well as fired by enemy forces in the series.

A Browning M2 .50 cal is seen mounted on US vehicles throughout the series.

NVA forces are sometimes seen firing the Valmet M78.

Soviet SGM Goryunov

The Soviet Goryunov SGM Machine Gun or Chinese Type 57 machine gun is also seen used by NVA forces in the series. Actually it's not a real Goryunov machine gun. It's visually modified Browning M1919

Launchers

M79 Grenade Launcher

The M79 grenade launcher is seen used by US forces throughout the series including SFC Anderson and Johnson.

Anderson uses the M79 in "The Luck" (S3E01).

M72 LAW

The M72 LAW is seen used by US troops throughout the series.

Percell uses the LAW on a T-55 tank in "War is a Contact Sport" (S3E18).

RPG-7

The RPG-7 is used throughout the series by VC and NVA forces.
