The Secret in Their Eyes (Spanish title: El Secreto de sus ojos) is a 2009 Argentine crime thriller film set during Argentina's Dirty War (1976–1983). Benjamín Espósito (Ricardo Darín), a retired judiciary employee, writes a novel about a unsolved crime which occurred in 1974 where the victim was brutally murdered and raped. As the years go by, it becomes an obsession for Benjamín, the victim's husband, and the murderer. In 2010, the film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
