The Revenant (2015)
|
The Revenant is loosely based on the life of Hugh Glass in 1823 and is based on the 2002 novel of the same name which was in turn based on the 1915 poem The Song of Hugh Glass.
The following weapons were used in the film The Revenant:
Flintlock Pistol
Several characters use Flintlock Pistols including Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Captain Andrew Henry (Domhnall Gleeson).
Pennsylvania Flintlock Rifle
A custom made Pennsylvania Flintlock Rifle is used by Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), and later by John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) and Bridger (Will Poulter). A pair of rifles were made for the production by Ron Luckenbill, who based them on an original rifle made by John Shuler of Bucks County. The rifles have had the barrels cut down to make them more usable on horseback (as was the case in the novel on which the film is based), an act which Ron Luckenbill refused to perform himself, saying “It would be too much like cutting off the arm of one of my children. I just couldn’t do it."
Brown Bess Carbine
Brown Bess Carbines are seen in the hands of several characters, include Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), Captain Andrew Henry (Domhnall Gleeson), John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), Hawk (Forrest Goodluck), Murphy (Kristoffer Joner), Jones (Lukas Haas), Bridger (Will Poulter) and Anderson (Paul Anderson).
