In 1906, a cobbler in the second-hand uniform of a captain marched into the town hall of the Berlin district of Köpenick with soldiers gathered on the way, seized the town treasury, and had the mayor arrested. Just wearing a uniform had opened all doors for him. The whole world laughed at the prank, which challenged German military and uniform beliefs.
