How can you tell Mk.46 from M249 from Mk.48? The only visible difference I'm aware of is that Mk.46 lacks the mag feed option and Mk.48 would have larger rounds in the belt, but how can you tell otherwise?--[[User:Mandolin|Mandolin]] ([[User talk:Mandolin|talk]]) 19:58, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

Well only the M249 (and Minimi) accepts the STANAG box mag as well as belts. While largely obscured by the belt when installed, there is that.

The Mk46 is always provided with a RIS, an never has the carry handle. But the M249 can now also have rails so that's not definitive.

Mk48 is of course in a different caliber, so if the belt is visible, that should be fairly obvious.

M249/Mk46/Mk48

How can you tell Mk.46 from M249 from Mk.48? The only visible difference I'm aware of is that Mk.46 lacks the mag feed option and Mk.48 would have larger rounds in the belt, but how can you tell otherwise?--Mandolin (talk) 19:58, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

417?

I looked at the stock photos and 417s have a forward assist. The rifle used doesn't have a forward assist Excalibur01 (talk) 16:54, 18 December 2017 (EST)

My guess would be that it is an SR-25 Enhanced Carbine:
