The rule of thumb seems to be if a mechanically powered projectile weapon appears in a film with lots of actual firearms, said weapon can be either included or omitted at the discretion of the author.

I'll take the job

No one's been bothering with this, so I've decided to take it up.


Revolvers

I've seen a couple revolvers, but haven't gotten any good shots of them.

Maybe, for the sake of the story, he encountered British troops in the US and took it from a dead body, or got it from a guy who happens to have it, or it was HIS and he somehow aquired it.
