1873 Winchester vs. 1876 Winchester
Doesn't Waite's (Kevin Costner) rifle look more like a Winchester 1876? I just watched this movie, and when I saw the gun the first I thought was that it was a 1876--User: Colt Revolver Fan.
No there is a difference. Compare the two photos of the 1873 and the 1876 then look at the rifle Costner is using. It's an 1873. --Jcordell 21:33, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
First the Winchester 1873. Note the back of the reciever where it meets the rifle stock.
Now look at the Winchester 1876 and it's reciever.
Now look at the Winchester that Costner is using. It's an 1873.

I'm agree with Colt Revolver Fan, I also think that the rifle is a Winchester 1876. The visible part of the barrel is more longer than the wooden part, and look the pronounced curvature of the butt. --CosmoRenfro 14:48, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Sawed Peacemaker
The barrel of Charley's Single Action Army cavalry seems to have been sawed, because we don't see the front sight. I think that Kevin Costner wanted a barrel with a length which was adapted to him. -CosmoRenfro- 15/07/12
SAA
I've got the two disc special edition and checked the special features, it shows Kevin Costner switching to his other SAA after his first ran dry, it might've been dropped due to those rapid cuts when he's shooting at the guy near the livery. I'm wondering if it should be noted on the picture or in the description, which is the proper policy? Black Irish Paddy (talk) 18:30, 26 March 2018 (EDT)
