Fourth picture

The fourth picture is ID'd as a SOCOM, but wouldn't a real SOCOM have "HK Mark 23 USSOCOM Cal 45" on the slide? Vangelis 10:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- I believe the real weapon has the HK logo, then (exactly as typed) MK23 USSOCOM Cal.45

EDIT - Though, as I've read, it may have markings along the lines of US PROPERTY MK23 MOD0 as well. In any case, nothing like the fourth picture (which has since been identified as an Airsoft gun). StanTheMan 19:36, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Would an airsoft weapon have .45 CAL engraved on it? I have an MP5 airsoft SMG, and it has 6mm on it, not 9mm. --Camden Hennis 00:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

A lot of airsoft companies (especially Japanese ones like Marui) used to do that, but it seems to have fallen out of style lately, especially with US and Taiwanese manufacturers. There are still some that do though, like the UHC VP-70.--PistolJunkie 01:37, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

LAM unit

can someone PLEASE make a page for the Wilcox Industries MK23 lam unit? It's a very popular lam and very expensive.

Wilcox industries ceased manufacturing them in 2001. Although most famous for being attached to a MK23 a whole range of pistols could be fitted as Wilcox Industries had gun adapters for many guns including, Glock and the USP.

There are two basic models:

Sosmart - laser module (two models) 1. laser only 2. infrared and laser

Beamer - flashlight module flashlight and infrared flashlight

2nd generation models had the battery pack on the side of the Sosmart module. The Sosmart module also had a LCD read out on bottom which had battery life and laser blink rate.

Price ranges today are $500-$3500

Name used on IMFDb

When a MK23 appears in a film or TV show, we always refer to it as a "MK23 Mod 0" (or something along those lines, I'm still not exactly sure how "MK/Mark" designations are supposed to be written). But since these are always going to be the civilian version, the Mark 23 (which this page is titled after), shouldn't we be using that name instead of the military designation? It's what we do with the Beretta 92FS/M9, so why not apply the same policy to the Mark 23? After all, it's highly unlikely there are any samples of the USSSOCOM-branded MK23 Mod 0 in any movie armories anywhere. Spartan198 (talk) 10:35, 11 August 2013 (EDT)
