There is a manual bolt hold open device, alright. But some of the videos of Gewehr 43 shooting, including one by Hickok45, have the gun go "click", and the operator manually checking the chamber. Others have the bolt locking back with the emptied magazine, including the slo-mo one on Forgotten Weapons. So, does it have something to do with the magazine quality or whatever? Its appearances in Call of Duty series show it locking back on empty, but the videos seem to have disagreements. Bolt catch?
