Sig P230, NOT Walther PPK

The gun Agent Winters has is a SIG P230, not a PPK, as it has not slide mounted safety, and the decock switch is on the grip.

Mirror Scene

This was just a cool shot from the film I wanted to put here.

Archer/Troy fires a Gold Springfield Armory M1911-A1 while Troy/Archer fires a two-tone SIG-Sauer P226 at each other through the mirror. When looking in the mirror, they see the face they are wearing, which is in reality their opponent. Very artistic.

Harpoon Gun

Sean Archer/Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) pulls out a Harpoon gun (make and model unknown) in an attempt to kill Castor Troy/Sean Archer (John Travolta) during their final battle on the boat and later the river side.

The two struggle for the harpoon gun.

Archer/Troy spots the harpoon gun in the sand as the two fight.

Archer/Troy holds the harpoon gun on Troy/Archer. The amount of sand on the weapon decreases throughout the scene due to continuity error.

Archer/Troy tries to shoot Troy/Archer with the harpoon at close range, but Troy/Archer grabs the spring mechanism so it won't fire.

Close up on the harpoon as Archer/Troy desperately tries to pull the trigger and get the weapon to fire.

S&W 1911's

You know ever since I saw this movie for the first time I've been trying to find a set of 1911A1's that look like these that are real functioning guns. I dont care what the price is I just would like to ask if anyone knows where I could find a replica. It doesn't have to be real gold only simulated. I think they would make an excellent conversation piece framed on the wall. If anyone knows where to find some similar to these please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Just for the record, they are Springfield Armory, not Smith & Wesson. And the guns were likely custom built for the show, so I'm pretty sure the only way to get one is to study the screencaps and build one yourself. - Gunmaster45

With enough money, anything can be built without him having to do it himself. I personally would like replicas built out of actual gold. I'm willing to wait and also to pay handsomely for them, but it would be badassed. I also wasn't aware you could "build" guns (relative gun noob here). - Seefu

Thanks for the link. Actually getting an expensive airsoft like that really helps. Most custom gunsmiths would have a problem replicating it exactly (and a lot of them are crusty and easily irritated, LOL) but if they were presented with a perfect replica of the weapon and you said "Here, make it just like this" they would have a really good foundation upon which to build a real gun. Aren't the guns used in the film Springfield Custom Shop built? Just have them do it. (I'd would have mine done in hard chrome though.) The port work seems like it would be the most expensive mod other than the finish. Factory ported Springfield's show up for sale time to time, but look like they are based off the Loaded Model, which has the wide slide serrations. Looks to me like they took a Mil-Spec base with the slanted serrations and went from there. --Predator20 20:33, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

There was an auction on Gunbroker quite a while ago that featured a custom made pair of these. Done by the Springfield Custom Shop. They were plated with real 24k gold, and were replicated down to the emblem on the grip panels. I saved the pictures to my computer, but I did not ask for permission to use them, so I can't post them. Anyway, the Custom Shop will make these pistols. But to give an idea of how much they would cost, the person was asking $45,000 USD. I feel it should also be noted, that the real pistols feature ball cuts at the front of the slide, which the airsoft version does not have. --GLOCK10mil 18:24, 4 August 2011 (CDT)

deleted scenes

there are some more shots of gns in a deleted scene of the raid on the apartment. Another PG shotgun, what looked like a glock, and extra shots of the ppk, etc.

What's a PG shotgun? And maybe I didn't watch the deleted scene closely enough, since it appeared to have the same shots essentially as the original scene had. - Gunmaster45

Trademark overdone

I understand that the use of Doves taking flight is a trademark of John Woo's (and one I rather enjoy), however I think he slightly overdid it before and during the gunbattle at the funeral. Beginning at the point Nicolas Cage walks on the beach with seaguls flying everywhere and continuing throughout the funeral and the resulting shootout indoors and outside there are birds on screen near constantly for ridiculous period of time. While this technique is usually used very well by Woo, I think this oversaturation kind of ruined the effect.

I always thought of the funeral home as a personal homage to his earlier Hong Kong film, The Killer. --cool-breeze 12:15, 26 March 2011 (CDT)

When Caster Troy snipes...

Is it possible he only took one round with him, not figuring on needing another, or maybe he didn't have the heart to kill him after killing his son?

It could possibly be that he only had one round, but I think Castor is too emotionless to care if he killed Archer's son. Personally, I think that Castor assumed that Archer would die from his wound and that it was necessary to get the hell away from the scene before someone saw him. -Gunman69 21:44, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

My take is this: Killing Michael was the worst thing Castor could have done to Archer, even worse than killing Archer himself. Ask any parent and they'll tell you that seeing their child come to harm is worse than even death. Castor realized this and thought that Michael's death would break Archer, but it had the opposite effect and making Archer even more relentless and determined. Is this the only movie where Nicolas Cage is killed off?? There doesn't appear to be any other movies I've watched where he dies.

Surprising how nobody mentioned Windtalkers. Now in response to the initial comment, I don't think you can really count Face/Off in Cage's death real, because while his character does end up being dead, it's actually Travolta who plays the role of the character being killed. --Ultimate94ninja (talk) 15:52, 16 December 2018 (EST)

M203 GL firing twice in a row?!

I've been watching this movie recently again and noticed that just like in Hard Target the M203 is shown firing twice in very close succession (as it is also mentioned on the page). This made me wonder how this could be so i looked at both movies very closely and noticed, that John Woo just used the same shot twice, just shown from a different angle and in a bit of slowmotion. It seems like he really likes to show it off so it is simply shown like a recap but in fact in both movies it's just firing one grenade and theres also just one impact, simply shown from different angle again.WARthog 15:44, 11 May 2011 (CDT)

MP5K

I am a huge fan of this website. long time anonymus viewer, first time commenter. Is it me, or does the final boat chase scene illustrate the movie rule of "infinite ammo" ?

After taking the MP5K, Travolta fires at least 100 rounds without ever changing magazines. If I remember right (I just saw this on TV last night, dont have my DVD to confirm): -kills the guy on the docks, -he strafes the docks, -shoots at Cage's boat -unloads at least 50 rounds into the port patrol police boat

and thats just what I can remember.

We all see the incredible 10+ shot revolvers in other movies and tv shows, but whenever I see this scene, I always get really mad. Is it just me?
