The M16A2 is a M16A3.
During one of the training scenes one of recruits fires it on full auto.
- No, it has a slab-sided upper receiver with A1 sights. The M16A2 & A3 would have forward assists and A2 style rear sights. It's also IMFDB policy not to distinguish between the A2 and A3, since most "M16A2s" you see in movies are actually A2 uppers on full-auto lowers. Spartan198 10:26, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Caio Junqueira's Glock
Is it possible that instead of a Glock 19 or 23, it could be a Glock 25? It's by far the most common Glock pistol in Brazil.
He's at home, practicing, dry firing, what SEEMS TO BE his personal gun (Glocks were never standart issued to Military Police in Brazil). If so, it's quite possible that it's a Glock 25 in .380ACP, since in '97 it was (and still is) quite hard for someone (even an aspiring police officer) to purchase a weapon in 9mmP (because it's the caliber used by our armed forces). So many cops (and EVERY common citizen) buy guns in .380 for their personal protection and off-duty carry.
Even for the film's armorer, it's much easier for him to get his hands on a Glock 25 than a 19 (and they're virtually identical in external appearance).
- It could be a Glock 25, but as I've said many times: Never use real life as your frame of reference for IDing a gun in movies, because real life differs from the movies many times. Think about how many movies depict U.S. Secret Service Agents using the SIG P226 (instead of the correct P228/P229) or NYPD officers carrying Glock 17s (instead of the correct Glock 19s). What the armorer had access to for this movie is anyone's guess, so unless we know for sure, it's best to assume G19. -MT2008 18:52, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Unidentified rifles
In the opening scenes, Caio Junqueira opens fire with an unidentified scoped rifle. It might be an Imbel AGLC, but I can’t identify it with certainty. It's maybe IMBEL M/968 (old czech or belgian Mauser enhanced with new 0.308 barrel in the 60's). The new BOPE recruits can be seen training with rifles that are probably made in Brazil, but I can’t identify them (help requested).

It's actually a Mauser chambered in .308, called MosqueFAL.
It's actually the M954 short rifle, the last Mauser bolt action produced in Brazil (in US 30 06). see (http://oldrifles.com/Brazil.htm).
The IMBEL Mq M968 7,62 (official naming) is actually chambered in 7,62x51mm NATO rounds, and share the same barrel and chamber of the IMBEL Fz M964 7,62 "FAL". The M968 is called MosqueFAL because of their appearance. This weapon is used in the basic training at OMA (active service military bases) and as the main weapon in OMFR (reserve training military bases). The weapon in this shot is the M968. The M968 is used in basic field training due to their superior resistance to the harsh conditions found in a basic training. Also, they're easier to repair and clean after a mud dive.
