Could it possibly be a modified Saiga?

it could be a Kbs wz. 1996 Beryl. it would make sense, since most of the mercs use rifles that fire 5.56x45 and if i remeber correctly it had a folding skeletal stock

It looks too streamlined to be an RPG-7 to me. If it were an RPG-7, shouldn't the sights be at least a bit taller? Spartan198

Beretta 92FS

It is Beretta 92FS or Vector Z88?

I actually think it's a Beretta 92SB throughout the entirety of the film, with the exception of maybe that last shot in the 92FS section where is kinda sorta not really looks like a squared trigger guard.I say this because it has an unfinished steel guide rod and a shinier than normal blue finish, something normally only seen on SB models, and aside from the one aforementioned screencap, you usually don't get a clear look at the trigger guard, but when you do, it's round.

Anti Material Rifle

In the fight scene with the robot, the Anti-Material Rifle used to damage his mech-suit is a Denel NTW-20. Did not get a close enough look to see if it was configured in 20mm or the smaller, higher velocity 14.5mm. Also spotted the Mechem BXP. This one is the 20mm. Olly Steele.

Trivia

This rifle are very familiar whit the HALO Sniper rifle S2 AM it says in the HALO Manual that it fires 14,5 mm armor piercing bullets It have the possibility of be a Recicled HALO movie sniper rifle since the director of district 9 is the same who was doing HALO movie this is a recycled HALO gun. search youtube for halo landfall or combat pt I&II there is a scene in it where an ODST trooper shoots brutes with it. note: this isnt a full length film its about 5-10 long.

Alien Weapons

I love how the main character's weapon of choice is a super-soaker-esque alien gun that shoots electricity, which he uses to make people explode in a hilarious manner-S&Wshooter 22:39, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Other alien guns are a ray gun that's like an anti-tank weapon, a mortar launcher, assault rifle, one that shoots sonic rays, a flamethrower, and some others i cant remember.

First off, glad to see an armorer posting on here on the movie they did. And great job on D9's weapons. But, what's up with Tunnel Rats? No offense. Also, what was that drum-fed weapon? -protoAuthor

What about 'Tunnel Rats'? It was quite a while ago that I worked on that. The drum fed weapon in D9 is the Striker 12ga shotgun. Olly Steele.

FN FAL vs. R1

I am sorry, but I cannot see how anybody can be sure that it is an FN FAL. The film obviously occurs in South Africa, and they obviously have access to a large amount of South African military technology (as exemplified by the presence of R4 series rifles, BXP submachine guns, SS-77 machine guns, NTW-20 anti-material rifles, Atlas Oryx helicopters, and Cassipir armored cars) so how can anyone be sure that this is not an R1. It fits all of the pictures I have seen of earlier-manufactured R1s (which do feature wooden furniture and contain Belgian-made components) and it only makes since that it would be an R1. Would the person who changed the article please present his case?SAWGunner89 15:06, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Page Setup

I like how this page is divided. What I mean is how you divide the guns into guns from each series (for example, making a section for the Beretta 92 Pistol series) and then subdivide them into each gun (making a subsection for the Beretta 92FS). removed alien weapons section

I have removed the "Alien Weapons" section based on the following IMFDB listing of Fictional Firearms

Namely the 5th rule> "Fantasy weapons which have no basis in real weapons technology do not belong here. So a Force Lance from "Andromeda" or a Klingon Disruptor from "Star Trek" or a Light Sabre from "Star Wars" do not qualify. No one would ever wonder if these weapons really exist today. "

that's the mortar weapon used to blow up the side of the MNU building in the attack

And there is a second unnamed gun being carried out of D9 by the MNU. This one is very large (seen below). Still looking into the source of the third.

The repulsor type weapon is the AMR - B13 and the large one that Wikus Van De Merwe finds ends up being a flamethrower type weapon that fires a green flame taggartusmaximus

• Actually the gun used on the Nigerians is smaller than the AMR-B13 and colored white and has three cylinders at the end (the AMR-B43). The large gun I was referring to is being carried out of District 9 by a group of workers. The flamethrower is the AMR-B07.

Chronological order

Why were all the specific weapons categories removed? Would it not be better to have the weapons be chronologically listed, but by specific type (pistol, rifle etc.); I'm curious, because I think some of the larger pages with many weapons (such as Street Kings or Hard Boiled) could benefit from such organization. --Markit 03:22, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

I removed the weapons categories because it was unorthodox - weapons categories digresses from the format of the rest of the website. You'll notice that the pages for The Matrix, Heat, Black Hawk Down, Terminator 2, (I could go on and on) are not formatted this way. Besides 26 weapons is not very much anyways....pages like the TV show Miami vice would be understandable in having a format that way because there is an insane amount of guns in that series. --AdAstra2009 03:56, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

I would not say the order in which the page was originally formatted was "unorthodox", because there are a number of other pages that also have similar formats, and there is no one standard that is stipulated on the rules page. Besides, it isn't as if the featured pages all have standardized formats either, since some have the most prominent weapons listed first, not in chronological order. Also, 26 weapons may not be a lot compared to TV shows with multiple seasons, but it is also a large enough number that anyone who doesn't know the exact name of the weapon they are looking for might find it problematic. I think that categories would be more useful for someone who doesn't want to read the entire page (and its numerous screencaps) if they are looking for the ID of only one weapon. A further question would be what number of weapons actually constitutes "many" for the moderators?--Markit 04:24, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what handgun is in the foreground. It looks like a Walther P38/P1, but I'm not so sure if that would be common in South Africa.

RPK

That's not an actual RPK. The receiver cuts are characteristic of the Galil/Valmet/R4 milled receiver. The milled RPK receiver cuts are the same as milled AK receiver cuts. That, and it's got the prominent Galil/Valmet/R4 magazine release lever.

Minigun

The page currently asserts that the minigun must be fake, because the muzzle flash appears in the centre. From the still image shown, the flash could just as easily be emitted from the barrel at the 3 o'clock position, which would be perfectly consistent with a minigun in certain mount configurations.
